hi all, my husband is currently on round 5 doctaxel and is wondering how long after his last round will it be before he gets scans? We have no indications of treatment working as his PC is non secretive PSA. His PSA was 3 when he was diagnosed with advanced PC and they said it will go down from there but we have heard that this is an artificial reading due to treatment so desperately wanting to know if his treatment is working or if it has progressed…. we do get concerned that it has stopped working as his hair growing back, albeit course and curly 🤷‍♀️

Also, do any of you know the timescale from scans after chemo to radiotherapy treatment? We are hoping to fit in a break away to recoup but just don’t dare book as treatment is far more important

Kind regards to you all

I had scans about 4 weeks after chemo and then a follow up with doctor the same week.

My husband has had scans three weeks after completion of each course of chemo.

I'm in the US, not the UK, but my follow-up CT scan and bone scan was six weeks after my last infusion (#6) of docetaxel.

My hair grew back curlier, too. 😀

My dad has had scans about a month post chemo . The time btwn radiation and chemo is not set in stone . It really has to be according to how your hubby feels bc chemo is rough on the bone marrow and radiation correct me if I'm wrong can be too. I can tell you those little breaks like my dad got vaxxed and then went to Florida in 2021. These trips . Mini trips meant so much to his life and well being and I urge you to fit in every getaway you can and if radiation interferes still there are some awesome staycations that just help bc the change in atmosphere and living life my father's experience taught me more about survival . When covid hit I was so afraid and I've been hiding bc of my immune system issues . My dad has done more living than I have and I wanted to put him in a bubble and protect him. I learned that he was right and I was wrong . Masking during this season and being cautious is smart but you there's healing in that living outside of treatment . I've seen it first hand and rt now my dad can't even leave the house to just go for a ride together . My dream for him is to walk in the sun to have as many good hours as possible . He went to Florida in March and has a very nice time and started going downhill around April . I thank God my dad was smart enough to move while alive as rt now he just wants to make it out of the bed to the couch . Scenery changes mean a lot to the mind so I can't say this enough. Fit in those vacations and nearby staycations and enjoy to your fullest extent. Xoxo 😘

I had my follow up CT scan about 3 weeks after my last chemo infusion. I was anxious to get going on radiation. My RO said if I wanted to wait until January and after the holidays, it was fine as well. I just want to get it done so we start on 12/12.
