PSA rising - follow-up, now falling again

PSA yesterday 0.03, down from 0.12 , headed back in the right direction.

Special thanks to Tall Allen and Pickelballplayer for helping me understand that it was my Abiraterone dosage that was most likely to be the cause.

I started taking 500 mg on empty stomach and added125 mg every week, now at 750mg . I will be back to full 1000 mg dose starting a week from this Friday.

Liver #s are very low and all other blood work numbers are normal. Will retest in 2 weeks.

Life is good...

Nice! Out of curiosity, what was the low-fat breakfast that you ate when taking 250 mg? I believe some men take their 250 with more fat than others, probably leading to more variability in absorption but a higher effective dose.

Coco makes a breakfast muffin for me with Almond flower, apple sauce and a variety of dried fruits and nuts + either a whole banana or apple = roughly 250 calories non fat, but I was never really sure.

I was told to take my 1000mg Abi at least 2 hours after and 1 hour before eating anything, to let it be absorbed on an empty stomach. My solution has been to take it in the middle of the night, when I get up to pee. I need my coffee in the first 5 minutes after I get up in the morning -- I doubt coffee would really affect absorption, but just trying to follow orders. I take my Prednisone with lunch (since I don't always eat breakfast).

I do the same, take Abi in the middle of the night when I get up to pee.

Scout , are you still seeing Dr. Szmulewitz ? I see him , and as of this past feb. 1 , I have been on 1 -- 250mg Zytiga. and 5mg pred. on a low fat breakfast . I have a new little blender called Blendjet that I add fruits, blueberrys ,blackberries , raspberries , mango, spinach, kale , mint leaves , broccoli sprouts and a tablespoon of fresh ground peanut butter . I buy organic and freeze it all in little freezer baggies . I make a few pancakes from a company called Otherworld , easy just add water , veggie pancakes . Really good . Somdays I will eat leftovers from supper the night before . So far Im at <.03. Good luck.

Glad it is working for you. The U of Chicago is where the study of 250mg with low fat meal was done , might even have been done by Szmulewitz. I only had one video meeting with him, I suppose he is still on my" team" but not my primary MO.

Great response! I am curious. How is the full dose more effective if even under 250mg your T levels were super low? Does Abi kill other androgens also which a reduced dose might not be killing? I was under the impression that if a reduced dose was keeping T super low then it is as effective as a full dose!

So was I, looks like it was not working for me.
