Just got the results of a blood test and my PSA went up from 0.67 to 0.77. I'm on Orgovyx and Zytiga. I'm 86 years old. How concerned should I be? 8 months ago it was about 12. That was before medication. Also slightly anemic. What are my options? Terry

I'm trying to piece together your situation from your previous posts, but I'm still uncertain. Would you please put in your profile exactly what your situation is, including how many metastases and where, and what your previous therapies have been?
I thought I answered everything. What specifically do you need to know? I had both knees replaced and have a slow heartbeat: at rest in the 40s. My biggest concern at present is anemia which is slowly getting worse. My prostate cancer is very widespread. Also, I have the restless leg syndrome and take 1-mg Mirapex and Methadone -10mg for it. I was a professional athlete and college professor. Wife of my 3 sons died of breast cancer 22 years ago and have remarried.
When discovered my PC had already spread to numerous bones, lymph nodes, but not to organs. At that time, last August, my PSA was 72 and Gleason score was 9. I stopped using a testosterone gel and take a lot of Prednisone which reduced my PSA to 11. At that point I was put on Orgovyx,. which dropped my PSA to 1.69, but a month later it rose to 1.78. I then added Zytiga which dropped my PSA 0.69. But my last blood test a month later it rose to 0.79. Also, my blood tests all show that I'm slightly anemic. which has been true all along. Everything else is normal. I have an unusually slow pulse at rest: in the 40s. Blood pressure is normal. My response to the two medications I'm on is typical.
Hopefully your next blood tests show a PSA decline and the last one was a blip but if not, options include Docetaxel chemotherapy next or switching to Xtandi (Enzalutamide). You may also qualify for Pluvicto. Worth getting feedback from your Oncologist on if you have any mutations to target such as BRCA2 etc.
I think by status, what is meant is, has your cancer metastasized to lymph nodes, organs or bones and if bones, where in the skeletal. Good luck my friend.
Hi. Hopefully some others will jump in here as I'm not on chemotherapy yet. However, I know a guy in my local support group undertaking it, he's 80. I think you can have a smaller dose. Definitely discuss with your medical oncologist.
I'm 87 so pooll over and we can chat..........I was not a professional athlete or college professor but I did play touch football as a kid and I attended King Farouk University. I love humor!!! Stay Well....
Yes j-o-h-n, humor is great; it's one of things that makes living in this crazy world possible. I have a Belgian Shepard dog that makes me laugh all of the time. Humans not so much.
