Not much talk about the immune therapy treatment. Understand it isn't approved for early use but that might be the best time to administer?

anone Have Success With Provenge?
How would anyone gauge success? Not approved for mHSPC. I think a combo with radiation or chemo would be synergistic.
Had Provenge. Did it do any good?? No way to judge. Supposed to add to overall life span... Hoping for the best..
FYI, this is the study leading to the approval of Provenge.

The medial overall survival was a 4.1 months improvement when compared with the control group. Between 15 and 20% of the patients had received chemo. All were in ADT, around 90% were also taken bicalutamide or similar drugs.
Difficult to transpolate to the actual population of patients starting with mCRPC since treatments have changed and patients are usually treated with a combination of ADT plus the new and much potent anti androgens and chemo before Provenge is used.
Had Provenge relatively early on just before Xtandi and it may have extended the usefulness of Xtandi, That was the intent at that time, to put off chemo as long as possible.
I did Provenge while still hormone sensitive. I had to pay out of pocket a huge amount but I figured ‘Hearst’s don’t have luggage racks’. Tough decision but all the studies show it works better the earlier you use (or at least the lower your PSA at the time you use). TA is right, all indications are it works better if you do radiation around the same time to have antigens present. I did SBRT Around the same time on a met they found an L5.

I got Provenge + Lupron in 2012. When I stopped Lupron, PSA quickly raised from 0 to 5. Bone scan showed a couple of mets in the ribs. So, I do not think that Provenge worked for me.
One more problem. My MO told me that I was rejected to participate in Keytruda trial due to previous Provenge treatment.
