Were you given Neulasta (Pegfilgrastim) used to increase white blood cell production?
It can for some illicit bone pain and or restless leg. Antihistamines' are given to reduce the side effect. Did not work for me so I ended up scheduling narcotic dosage for a certain amount of days after each injection of Neulasta.
My oncologist had me take Claritin of all things for the bone pain. It worked! The pain does not mean Mets it just a side effect of the chemo. The pain will go away in a few days but Claritin really does help.
It seems you had have had a fairly bad response so far to the docetaxel. I finished my 6 sessions about 4 weeks ago now feel a1000% better. The pain would probably be neuropathy(nerve pain)My partner gave me a massage about every 2nd day pushing her fingers and nails into the muscles and the bottom of the feet which helped a lot .Have you any spinal mets?If so you may need a zap of radiation. Also do some resistance work with a rubber band and some walking even if it is short distances Regards brian
Hubby had pain after first infusion. Call your MO. They increased the number of days taking steroids for the remaining sessions and he did fine after that. Good luck.
Docetaxel and prednisone quickly stopped the bone pain from a met in my spine, but each of the Neulasta. shots was good for 4-5 days of bone pain, mostly the legs in my case. I took the claritin - loratidine It may have helped, but I still had significant pain. I was able to work, however, by rotating ibuprofen and acetaminophen during the day and tramadol to sleep. The kept my white blood cells in a low but acceptable range, so I considered the pain worth enduring.
