Got my first psa test since radiation

I just got my six-month psa test results since marker implants and all the radiation treatments. Disappointed that the test came back 1.90.

Why does that disappoint you? What was your PSA before radiation? Do you have advanced prostate cancer? Where was the radiation - prostate or metastases?

Hi Tall_Allen. My psa was at 9 or 9.8. The radiation was in the prostate. They never said if it was metastases. Was just hoping for a lower number.

That was an unreasonable expectation. And a great 6-month response.

You probably had metastasis outside the prostate prior to RT. Check PSA again quarterly. If it reaches 4 or more then prepare for hormone therapy.

Thanks NecessarillySo. I go to the urologist November 4 th. and go for follow up to the radiation specialist December 2, 2022.

FWIW...I had SBRT 15 months ago when my PSA was 19.3....ist quarterly PSA came down to 4.99.....I was disappointed like you until i got educated by both my RO and real PC experts like Tall who have been there. I am now down to 2.43 and optimistic of further reductions going forward. My disappointment, like i suspect yours, was simply based on a lack of education and understanding. Hang in there. You are doing well!

Thanks, kayak212. Glad your PSA is continuing to drop. Hopefully mine will do the same as yours and continue to drop. Thanks for the encouragement, I appreciate it.
