My husband is starting treatment again as his latest ct scan shows 2 positive pelvic lymph nodes, negative bone scan. He has started treatment and has been on Casodex for a month and had his first zolodex injection two days ago. Before the injection he started getting a rash on his neck today it is all over his neck and progressing to his face and its getting worse, could this be a reaction to casodex has anyone had a similar problem. We have a call into his urologist hoping to get some feedback. His GP is not available for 3 weeks (go figure)

Did an antihistamine help? I suggest he go to urgent care. It may be a drug reaction, an infectious disease, or a liver problem.

Thanks for your reply appreciated. He did take a antihistamine (benadryl extra strengh ) it doee not come in non-drowsy the rash calmed down for a few hours but it did knock him out all afternoon. Trying Loratadine (Claritin) non drowsy at bedtime see if that helps. If worse tomorrow have to try ER a wait of about 7hrs trending at our small local hospital in BC Canada (so be it if needs be). he never had this reaction first time around same therapy Casodex for 30 days followed by 3 month Zoladex 10.3 injection although l have read side effects can cause a rash in some people.

He has been in Casodex for a month without a rash.

He received Zolodex 2 days ago and developed a rash. Most probable a reaction to Zolodex.

Zolodex is associated with skin rash in 8% of the patients.

Thank you for you speedy reply, we are now assuming it is a reaction to the inital therapy, taking Claritin to help with this flare up and see how it goes until we can talk to his Urologist

a bad rash can go to blistering, serious inflammation and edema can kill you. get to ER asap.

My husband has experienced 2 Stevens Johnson reactions, one to a chemo administered to CLL patients, the other to hydrochlorothiazide. Neither time was the reaction immediate. To the chemo, it happened right after the first half of the 3rd cycle (3 months), and to the hydrochlorthiazide, 4 months in. He's experiencing a reaction now to a med (Calquence for CLL) that he's been on for almost a year. I hope those antihistamines worked!
