post radiotherapy fatigue

Finished my 20 sessions of radiotherapy (60 grey in total ) in mid July . Areas targeted were prostrate, lymph nodes, seminal vesicles and small pelvic bone met. While the water works are almost back to normal the fatigue is awful still . Was wondering does targeting so many areas at once increase the fatigue level ?

Any advice on how long this lasts for or how to shift it . Trying to increase fitness level so I can return to work.

Many thanks

I had no significant fatigue for similar RT. I was in very god cardiovascular condition swimming nearly 1/2 mile per week, 20 minutes/day, 5 days/week. However I did develop skin rashes which I still deal with over 3 years later.

I did have covid bad back in January, maybe it was still lurking in my system some where although I've been back to work okay before my radiotherapy started

The number of sessions have the biggest effect. This may be helpful:

"lymph nodes"

Get an immediate lab test of your cd4 T-Cells.

They are the only type of T-Cells that never grow back. And they are important.

Without them you are immunocompromised. They are the T-Cells that are killed by aids.

Maybe you are best off first trying endo surgery on the lymph nodes before using radiation on them.

If you are on Xtandi, that is the more likely source of your fatigue. How much do you exercise and what kind?

Hi there, my father is currently dealing with fatigue & weakness in legs from Xtandi.

Is there any good way to deal with this? Thank you.

Been on Xtandi for 8months now with moderate exercise at the gym. Might throw in some swimming and see if that helps

It’s almost certainly the Xtandi. ‘Throw in’ as much extra exercise as you can. You will notice a distinct difference in your fatigue level.

Will do. Cheers

I have no medical advice but I was also fatigued after intensive RP. What helped me out was exercised. Whenever I rested it got worse. It’s important to start with something, even when it’s hard, and intensify step by step. You feel better afterward than before even when you can’t imagine this before start.

When I had SRT I felt fine but I exercised throughput except for the final week. 3 years later when I had 5 sessions of CyberKnife to lymph nodes I did feel fatigued which surprised me but again I exercised throughout. I found running harder so I still did it but eased of the pace for about a week. Gradually went back to normal . Good luck

I had exactly the RT that you had. I breezed through the treatments. Fatigue began soon after the treatments ended and lasted for about four weeks. I had no Xtandi. If your fatigue is ongoing, it is probably from the Xtandi.
