Not sure if this is the one he meant but Arm K of the stampede trial in the UK has added metformin to SOC

Hope that helps
STAMPEDE. But I wouldn't bet on it:
These two studies are interesting.
While not a prostate cancer study, pancreatic cancer is a difficult cancer.

"These findings clearly indicated that metformin plus pitavastatin had a synergistic anticancer effect on pancreatic cancer cells, potentially caused due to the activation of AMPK and inhibition of PI3K/mTOR signaling. Altogether, our results provide that use of metformin plus pitavastatin maybe serve as a chemotherapeutic agent for human pancreatic cancer in future."

Statins starve cancer cells to death -- ScienceDaily
originalText

An excerpt:
"Devreotes and his team began the new study with an unbiased screen of about 2,500 drugs approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to see which ones had the best kill rate of cells genetically engineered to have a mutation in a cancer gene called PTEN. The gene codes for an enzyme that suppresses tumor growth. Among the thousands of drugs, statins and in particular pitavastatin, emerged as a top contender in cancer-killing ability. Most of the other drugs had no effect or killed normal and engineered cells at the same rate. Equal concentrations of pitavastatin caused cell death in nearly all of the engineered cells, but very in few normal cells."
There is quite a bit online about these drugs paired. I read your last reply. So sorry that have metastases. Note the word "synergistically" in the Pitavastatin and Metformin article.
You might show these to your MO. I handed a printout to my onco last week who is the head of the genitourinary department at his hospital associated with Brown University. As occasionally happens, my onco walked in with someone beginning their career. I am always glad to help someone advance in any way I can. I guess I am an interesting patient. My onco remembered a study he had read. In the past there was, perhaps difficulty with Pitavastatin availability--and pricing! I called my pharmacy and the pharmacy has Pitavastatin. The pharmacist I spoke with hadn't heard of Pitavastatin's cancer killing ability. I told him I would bring some printed study results in.
I met with my conventional/alternative doc the following day and he wrote a prescription for Pitavastatin. He told me that by having the prescription I can find out how much it costs before deciding. I have time to go in today.
Read the studies and if you think there may be some benefit for you it is your decision. Again, as I suggested, get your MO's opinion.
I consider studies that focus on just one drug to be searching for a "one trick pony". The fact is, we realize that are diets can't be one food group or type of food and maintain proper health.
Did you see the post on AMG-509 the other day? It may have some interest for you.
My best to you,

Thank you so much for your compassionate post. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. I indeed have saved the post about amg 509 and savouring the flow of hope. My MO is very strict about SOC but pay heed to any good study and respond. Will you please share the link of this study?
Thank you and wish you great health
