Eligard Question

Hi all. I've had two injections 3 months apart, so the end of this month is the end of my 6-month ADT treatment for now. Currently experiencing moderate but uncomfortable breast swelling and wondering if this will be a reversible condition? If so, will it resolve on its own or will I need to contact the MO for medication? Thank you

I’m curious too. My hubby had two 3 month shots and a 6 month of Eliguard. Last shot Dec 2020. Although, his breast swelling and tenderness didn’t begin until 1 year after the last shot. Jan 2022. Very weird to say the least. We too were wondering if it ever goes away. Hoping for good answers.

Tamoxifen 20 mg/day will reverse gynecomastia, 10 mg/day will prevent it. Tamoxifen is now available as a transdermal patch which probably won't cause clotting issues.

Thanks again Allen. Taking your advice, I contacted my MOs office and informed them of the gynecomastia and made a request for the tamoxifen. It took three days to get back to me and the nurse told me the following. She said that tamoxifen is not a medication he would use for that, so I asked what medication then because I'm happy to go with his choice. She had no idea what he uses as a replacement and after further questioning it seems the issue is "he needs to see you" I told his nurse I've just finished salvage radiation and I've given myself 6-8 weeks of avoiding office visits (because I'm going fishing for awhile) but it was no dice. All of my labs are up to date with him as of April 1st so that cant be it . I took the appointment even though it's 3 weeks out. I'm thinking my primary care doc would've prescribed the tamoxifen if I'd have just called him. Any clue why he would make me wait till he gets me in the claustrophobic cubicle he uses to talk to me?

Maybe send him this:

They used to use breast radiation for the purpose, but tamoxifen works much better. It is generally well tolerated, but if you are prone to blood clots, I understand that a patch can be made up by a compounding pharmacy that would avoid that (some women use the transdermal preparations for breast cancer).
