Cabazitaxel in combo with Carboplatin

Has anyone had this combination of chemo at the same time? If so did you have

good results?

My husband just completed his 8th cycle. PSA after 7 cycles went from 413 to 3.46. Scans and PSA in early July. No side effects other than neutropenic fever after dose 4, which quickly resolved.

Have had 6 cycles of this combo so far. 3 week cycles. Tomorrow will be #7? After initial treatment PSA dropped from 62 to 4. But, the ongoing trend has been an increase to 18 as of yesterday's most recent blood work, from 9 three weeks earlier and 6 three weeks before that. Also meeting with my MO tomorrow to discuss if this regimen should continue as it may no longer be effective.

Could PSA be rising (temporarily) because it's working? I get confused on that point.

I initially thought so. But, since PSA has continued to rise quickly I am not sure about that.

I'm 2weeks into 2nd cycle, out of 6 planned. Minimal side effects. PSA had gone parabolic prior to 1st cycle increasing 30% in 6 weeks, then 70% in 4 weeks to 155. The combination held PSA to 156 at start of 2nd cycle. Mets to total skeleton with hot spots at hips and mid spine. Pain manageable though not reduced yet by treatments.

I have mCRPC and BRCA2 mutation, am currently taking cabazitaxel plus carboplatin and have had excellent results. I have had no nausea, some peripheral neuropathy. Other side affects are minimal, still working full time (computer work). My PSA before starting treatments in Jan this year was 54, latest is 0.4! I hope you have great results also
