I was scheduled for Jevtana-plus-Carboplatin infusion number three, but it turns out the cold I had...was actually this low-grade Covid that's going around. I was able to reschedule based on time and symptoms and ended up getting the infusion on the afternoon of my birthday. "Full name and birth date" they requested several times and then, "yes, it's today". My wife baked a Tupperware full of ginger snaps for me to bring and the nurses all said they were tasty! I'm told not to worry about my PSA at this point, good advice as it is up just a bit, but I'm following instructions to not think about it. Scans to check progress will be in two weeks and that means more. Today, day four of the cycle, is the roughest for me so I'll mostly take it easy.
And then, yesterday...we got a video call from our son and his sweetheart who was suddenly wearing a shiny diamond ring. We knew this was coming--but she was completely blown away (so, kudos to her sister who was in on the conspiracy). And because of this proposal, important future dates will be placed on my calendar. More motivation to stay in good health--motivation to buck up and "take my medicine". A wedding sometime soon, and then, eventually, grandchildren for us to meet and nurture. So let's go, Jevtana plus Carboplatin, I need to stick around a while!

Young grandchildren, a great reason to stick around...Keep us informed on side effects of chemo. I have plenty of left over SE's from Doxetaxel, mainly neuropathy. My MO offered jevtana and I put it off. He has since told me that he can't do any more for me without chemo and I am end stage aPca. Great news.. Moved over to RO and had 2 rounds of RT. The first was good. Killed pain and dropped PSA for 6-7 months, Second not so much. Moved on to Xofigo. Two treatments down and third 25th of April. Scans the week after the third to see if mets are responding or growing/multiplying. Wishing us both luck with treatments and scans to follow.... Life Is Good, especially with grandkids around to play with and teach.
You had a fun week........ Your wife baked cannabis ginger snap cookies for the nurses. It was your birthday so you and the nurses got drunk. Then your son's sweetheart gave him a shiny diamond ring and then she told your son that you all would be paying for the wedding (except for more cannabis ginger snap cookies). Then they mentioned that sweetheart comes from a family noted for multiple births (minimum of 3). So start savings and learning how to manage babies again.
Wishing you all the best StePeteMN. You can always have the wedding in your back yard. Lots of Jack Daniels and no one will even care. Never volunteer to babysit unless your wife is there to babysit you. Buy some I Bonds, if you can afford it.
