Covid-19 may increase PSA in men with prostates

It has been found to migrate to the testicles and the prostate in monkeys 1 and 2 weeks post infection. They used a PET scan to detect the virus.

This is not yet peer-reviewed, but it is probably a good idea to wait at least a month after infection to get a PSA test.

I hope it doesn't cause any more nuanced prostate cancer issues.

It seems like Covid goes everywhere and can cause mischief anywhere where it can cause either inflammation or coagulation issues.

Thank you Tall Allen

Once again, I find your information sharing quite helpful. I’m not reading anything into this that I shouldn’t, but it’s strangely coincidental that my PSA remained undetectable for over two years, I caught Covid 2X even after being vaccinated, and my PSA started rising. My Best, Jim

Same thing happened to me. Hoping that Covid was the cause.

My Dr recommended not to get jab because it can revive quiescent cancers.

Thanks for the info, as usual. I tested positive for Covid about a year ago. PSA went from undetectable to 0.06. MO not sure why.

Did it come back down?

Unfortunately, stayed at 0.06, after a couple of months of PSA tests. As long as its not going up, I'm ok with it. Thanks for asking.

I had a test 2 weeks after contracting Covid. PSA rose from 0.9 to 1.5. I freaked out of course and then my wife says 'Do you think Covid might have played a part?' Dr Google suggested it could be. Got a consultation with my onco in a couple of weeks and I will print these out for him. Thanks.

My PSA mid december was 0.3 steadyThen Covid in January

PSA mid Feb. Is 0.6

Now on a strict diet and exercise to see if I can get back below 0.3

Exercise and eating well are good for you but has nothing to do with PSA.

It appears I’m the outlier in this thread. My PSA was dropping somewhat sluggishly (ADT + zytiga) until I got COVID in December, then the dropoff accelerated noticeably. The rate of decrease has almost doubled.

My PSA started to rise after I got Lyme disease. My MO didn’t rule it out as a possible cause.

My PSA is thinking about rising just reading this! 😂
