My 82 y/o father has metastatic prostate cancer to his clavicles, sternum, thoracic spine, left pelvis, shoulder and humerus. He developed left leg weakness after getting chemo and can no longer stand. He is having upper back pain but I’m being told he’s not a candidate for radiation because he can’t stand. Does that seem right ?

Radiation therapy
palliative radiotherapy for pain ? yea that makes sense to me .
Any reason you are skeptical ?
The local radiation oncologist is refusing. He hasn’t even seen my father and says that because he can’t stand, he’s not a candidate.
He must have a reason to say so.? Don’t be discouraged .. Hang in there.
Radium 223 +Zometa may be able to resolve the bone pain and prevent further fractures. Unfortunately, bones that are already fractured won't be healed by radiation. But he may be able to get spot radiation at other sites where it is safe to to do, to prevent fractures.
Thanks. The oncologists have not offered these options to us. They said he needs to be walking before getting any additional therapy.
There us nothing” Right” about any of his suffering. It’s a rough disease , especially at 82 . Poor fellow. Lots of prayers . Hold his hand. I’m sorry that he’s in such pain. Love is the best medicine. Keep yourself strong in order to be by his side. 🙏❤️
