I just want to relate just how easy it was to get my booster vaccine shot yesterday. I went to the vaccination site and told them that I have cancer and have battled 10 episodes of bladder infections in the past year. It only took a half hour from start to finish

Mine is scheduled for tomorrow at my county health dept. just hoping my 3rd Moderna shot has milder SEs than the 2nd
My 3rd Moderna actually had more shot location irritation, i.e. - owie.
That’s nothing. My 2nd Moderna vax had nasty SEs, vomiting, total exhaustion lost a whole day and a half.
3rd Moderna almost zero. Light soreness when I rolled over on my arm.
How bout your 2nd?
Ok. 1st on Jan 15 - injected, took a Tylenol and did nothing, read, slept in my recliner arm sore, but no worse than any overseas injections when on active duty. Flu shot sorer. 2nd Shot, Feb 12 - sore the next day. This time, the only time I felt anything was rolling onto my side in bed, but that was minor. My wife got the COVID arm with a rash at each injection,,,,,, unless there is a medical condition, take 5g3 shot..... and if you get COVID and you could, 95-96% are hospitalized. The people dying today, and I personally know two did not take the vaccination and died - all in the last two weeks.
Well in good ole Oz (Australia) we have politicians who invested in shares in CSL (Commonwealth Serum Labs) who do all our vaxines in the past, produced in Oz..all old-fashioned Viral Vector, not the newer MRNA like Phizer and Moderna. Beyond age 60 we can't access MRNA, just AZ..Astra Pharma's Vaxzerev is new name I think, AstraZeneca previously, all manufactured by CSL. Has clots that can kill you like JJ's jab and has lower efficacy than either Phizer or Moderna. Not terribly lower, but lower. Isn't that great, the old people get the worst drug and doesn't matter if you have cancer/suppressed immuno, unless you are basically in a deep mess at the moment with it. So, I would only wish for a booster just cause I have (as the Feds see it, non-active cancer) as I haven't as yet got my second jab of AZ. Tis coming (Sept 17) but should have had it about a month ago but went twice (live in regional OZ..but only 200ks from Sydney) for first jab and no drugs onsite....had to go home.
I live in South Australia and had my second AZ on July 30th. I agree with all you have written. Would rather have had the P shot. Yes so slow with vaccines here in Australia. I sympathise with your concerns. With metastatic PCa I worry about contact with those who have not been vaccinated. Now the press is reporting that vaccines may only last for 6 months. So those in the US are well ahead of us having a 3rd vaccine. Therefore I have concerns for the future.
Yep got my third jab this past Saturday morning. I have Kaiser and they really reach out to patients like me. No SEs from first two, but light nausea , muscle pains and headaches with this one. Light rash on posterior too. Kaiser gives the VIP treatment to croakers like me. In clinics, Covid vaccines, monthly labs , special prescription services … the works. They ( correctly ) figure heads up preventive care and focused personal attention costs them less in the long run.
"They ( correctly ) figure heads up preventive care and focused personal attention costs them less in the long run. "
I think that's great. I'm sure they have made sure your weight is in the healthy range, your exercise levels are good, your "D" levels are appropriate, along with other indicators of general fitness. It is calming to know they care.
My brother got his at Walgreens. Just walked in, after I checked online which store had Moderna. No SE other than sore arm. He got it a week ago.
Got it last week, sore arm fir three days, some joint ache for 24 hours along with tiredness. Still worked my part time job, well worth getting it and easy due to the cancer.
Just answer the last question about immune system with a yes. No further comment necessary. They can't ask.
Got Moderna at a CVS in California.
Got the 3rd shot two weeks ago with no side effects.
Yep, about a week ago, usual side effects - a sign that my immune system is taking action, lasted a couple of days. On we go…
My wife and I had both Moderna shots in January and February. I had a sore upper arm for a couple of days, but no other problems that I am aware of. Her arm pain lasted a day or two longer than mine.
Got my 3rd Moderna yesterday. Qualified as immuno-compromised due to ADT(Lupron). Scheduled through my family Dr. and received injection at the local hospital in the “CoVid Tent”. So far so good. Place was busy with mostly 1st and 2nd vaccines . Glad to see people taking this serious. I was originally skeptical about it but after seeing people die or suffer dramatically without it, and most who got vaccinated not getting the virus orHaving mild symptoms if they did test
Positive, I was convinced it was the right thing to do.
I got my Moderna Monday. First one in line at Kinney. Same SE's as the first 2, flu like symptoms for 1/2 day.
I got my third jab two days ago. No SE's from the first two. This time, sore arm, fatigue and headache for a day.
As I posted a couple of days ago: "I too just used Walgreens. This option may not last long as my hospital has advised that as a condition for shot 3 'Per the CDC, you are considered moderately or severely immuno-compromised if you: [among several conditions]:
Recently received or are receiving immunosuppressive chemotherapy for cancer, or any therapy for a blood based/hematological malignancy. Many cancer treatments such as hormonal therapies are not immunosuppressive. Patients with certain hematological cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma may qualify, even if not on treatment."
First two Moderna were non-events. This time sore are for three days.
I got the booster early last week. I registered online at a CVS and they did not ask any questions. I am immunocompromised, but it would not have mattered. It is prudent for us to keep our resistance at the highest level possible. I think it is also a good idea to get it before everyone else starts jamming the vaccine system. I hope the supply is enough for the demand at the 8-month mark after the vaccine ramped up last April. It was such a hassle to get an appointment last spring that I can see that happening again in the fall.
3rd Pfizer scheduled for Tuesday
I got 3rd 5 days ago. 😆
I now know 6 people who have died. 4 before the vaccine was available and 2 after who thought the entire thing was made up. So there is that.
They all repent once they're in the ICU and about to be put on a ventilator. The internet is full of stories and videos of these people.
People who think it's a hoax should go to the hoaxpital when they get Covid.
Those who are able to get the vaccine, but refuse are like people who are refuse to evacuate when a hurricane is coming and expect to be rescued off their roof as the water is rising.
I've read that in some places overrun with Covid cases, they are starting to triage based on vaccination status. The unvaccinated are much less likely to survive so they are getting a lower priority.
My husband got his yesterday. Arm is sore today, but otherwise good. Had to look around as some places are out. Got it a CVS.
3rd vaccine three weeks ago. Minor SE. Headache day of shot, sore arm 24 hrs
Had the 3rd Moderna last week-- first two hours thought ah, no problem, then arm got real sore, then at six hours, headache started, and felt fluish till the next morning. Then everything was ok, except felt a little fatigued on a run a few days later. Testing antibodies and WBC/ALC next week to see where my immune system stands before taking a flight.
I mentioned that I was planning on getting the booster and someone on this site got into me for getting a shot that I did not qualify for. Said something snarky like that I would have to take my place in line after all the people who really needed it. Made me feel really bad. There are thousands of vaccines available because of the stupid people who refuse to get them. I don't think I am denying anyone a shot and I think I do qualify. It looks like others are going to or have gotten them. Am I denying a shot to some person with many co-morbidities due to lifestyle decisions and should I let the vaccines that will expire go to waste. Interested in how others feel about this.
Get your booster you have earned it. All that I had to tell them is that I had cancer and I was in
Don’t sweat it …if you are on here, you’re most likely a croaker fighting for extra days of life. Get the %#$@ jab … that’s the name of that tune. All those others will get theirs in due time, the USA is awash in vaccine, it’ll expire if not quickly used. Kaiser feels the same, they have strongly reached out to me to come in right away for all three. That’s the medical providers doing that. Nuff said ….
You’re good brother 💪💪💪❤️❤️❤️
In the beginning, more people wanted and needed the vaccine than the available supply. But that's turned around now and there is more vaccine than people who want it. Many doses have been thrown away in the US. I can't believe that you getting your vaccine is going to mean that someone else has to wait. I haven't heard of anyone having to wait because of supply.
The bigger problem is all the anti-vaxers showing up at the ICU expecting emergency intervention to save their lives because of their own stupidity.
i would like to see vaccination as a requirement for ER treatment but hospitals are mandated to help these assholes. hopefully they can serve real emergencies not caused by stupidity first.
Here's a good article that discusses making the people who refuse to take the vaccine bear the financial costs of their decision.
As much as I want people to get vaccinated and adhere to cdc guidelines, I find it alarming that people are willing to go to draconian measures. For example. We know smoking results in a plethora of health issues and nobody seriously states smokers should bear financial responsibility for care. Same goes for drug users. I would state that those people relying on government handouts should get the vaccine and those relying on the rent moratorium. There should be no free ride if getting actual Gov't assistance.
i wish i could find the post where i was berated for getting a booster. would the person who berated me please 'fess up.
Got mine yesterday
Got third Moderna a couple of hours ago. No reactions so far. Will update if that changes. Incidentally, almost no questions were asked to confirm that I met the immunocompromised criteria.
Yayahahahaya no kidding … deaf too. Yikes .. 😂😂😂😂
Email received today from NYU Langone Medical Group:
In the coming weeks, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are expected to recommend a third dose of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to increase protection against the virus and its variants.
NYU Langone will have these booster shots available to all our eligible patients as soon as that approval comes through.
Who Will Be Eligible for a Booster Shot?
Anyone who received two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines will be eligible for a booster.
Booster shots for people who received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine have not yet been recommended, as research is still in progress on boosters with that vaccine.
When Should I Get the Booster?
The booster is recommended any time after eight months from your second dose. You do not need to schedule your booster appointment exactly eight months after you were vaccinated.
Please don't shoot the messenger.
