Hi I’m confused. Brief history . Diagnosed 7 years ago psa 180 treated with lupron injection ever since no chemo to date. Had Turps 7 years ago psa dropped to 5. Recent psa revealed rising psa 20 also bladder emptying not ideal. Consultant ordered CT scan expecting he would put me chemo (I’m in uk where chemo is used as a last treatment not up front like the States). However the scan showed very little change in mets(hip back and 1 in lung) but revealed a blocking up bladder so chemo idea is dropped and I awaiting possible Turps op.

What’s confusing me but of course it is good news is why the mets haven’t changed dose that mean cancer is not so aggressive or is medication doing it’s job. Also 7 years ago I made big changes in lifestyle especially diet (vegi dairy free and recommended foods and supplements could that have slowed growth.

I get the feeling the consultant is a bit confused too.

Any comments appreciated meanwhile I have a dodgy bladder and catheter to occupy my thoughts.

Best wishes to All

Roger

Congratulations! The Lupron is still working for you, but you seem to misunderstand how chemo is used in the UK. NHS approves upfront chemo with Lupron for all men who originally present with metastases of any number. NICE in England doesn't allow abiraterone in that situation. It is reversed in the US - many doctors will start with abiraterone, but only give chemo upfront if there very few metastases.

If what they called metastases in your hip, back and lung did not shrink with Lupron, they are probably not metastases. That is probably why you were never given chemo.

TURPs often have to be redone. Instead of having another TURP, is there any reason you can't have a prostatectomy?

Good question?

Hey Rogersw, APC is like the mob . No getting out of this organization . I’m over six years with no signs of pc or Psa still on adt .. still uneasily awaiting what we are told is the inevitable return of the beast .. I too made the diet changes . Keep it up! Im sorry about this bs and cathing ..I hated that mess . Had tubs 8nto my kidneys for 18 months . Imrt Lupron and Tak -700 shrank the tumors allowing me to pee again .. the uro stuff is degrading . I hope that you can find another fix and kick the can again down the road . Take care Scott
