Well guess what, when Myhubby58 was in the delirium stage, the Hospice Nurse figured out it was the lorazepam that was making him have hallucinations. And now that she took him off of that, he is no longer having them.. Thank You Jesus.. Now they have him on dextamethazone, methadone, and oxycodene, and he seems to be coming back around.. The thing is for how long?
It seems to be working : Well guess... - Advanced Prostate...
It seems to be working
You must be relieved. It works the other way,too - removing a sedative or antidepressant abruptly can also provoke hallucinations and aberrant behavior. I saw that with my mother in the hospital. We were told that she had abrupt onset dementia, when it was really just removal of a medication that she’d been on for years. I wish doctors would be a little more sensitive to these things.
That must be a relief. When my mother didn't take her diabetes meds she had a diabetic stroke. Don't want to see that again.
Glad to hear someone was able to figure that out and provide relief! Is good news!
You might also thank the nurse. I believe she had something to do with it. Good for your husband!
Sometimes deliriums can be caused by UTIs too. Bet it was nice to have him back.
