Now going to Mayo Clinic in PHX and have new MO as suggested by some of you. Had lots of ground to cover with Dr. Moore to catch her up since my Dx 4/20 and following treatments. One area was hot flashes and my desire to try low dose estradiol patches which in my view had a bonus in helping my bones.
She Rx Venlafaxine (Effexor) 75 MG. Took my 1st one at breakfast today. Did not expect any immediate results, but by this time of day I would already have had 10-12 of them and they seemed to be getting worse, of course, our current weather is not helpful. So far today I have had about one and a half. First one was very mild and the second one just petered out.
The drug is basically used for folks with depression and I have to say that at times I do feel somewhat depressed with the PCa and also being a caregiver. Have to see if it helps there, too.😎

Thanks. We'll see how it shakes out, but for the first time since the battle started, I feel like there is a team on my side. Today I got the results of my 1st testosterone test--a 7. Not sure what it means exactly. Know it is produced in other parts of my body. PSA still at <0.1.
Having confidence in a team is big time in your favor . 7 ? I’m jealous ,I’m at 3 for over six years now . 85% from the balls 15% from the adrenal gland . I’m on Tak -700 said to halt adrenal production ( zytiga like) and I cut off my balls . Whoo hoo . If in your travels at Mayo you see a tall handsome Sihk oncologist Pariminder Singh, with a turban ,please tell him Scott from Tucson thanks him for saving my life ? I’ve been clear of pc six years . Breath easy knowing these pros can help save you . Females now have more t than you and I . Life goes on . With suffering attached .
It works wonders! However - make sure that you do not run out. I had a refill get lost by ups. Went 5 days without, and that last day was the roughest day of my life…
Have been taking 400 mg of magnesium for a long time with no affect on hot flashes. It and zinc have helped with leg cramps. More proof that we all have different reactions to meds/supplements.11 am and so far only one hot flash.
Good luck with your treatments. I am close by in Glendale.
