Intense Hot Flushes

I have been on Lupron since November 2018 with two nine month breaks. My hot flushes have been within limits, not so intolerable. Recently, I had a 3 month Lupron shots on July 19 and on October 17. Lately, my hot flushes have become very intense and episodes lasting long. Is this common? By now I thought my body will take Lupron with lesser hot flushes.

Usually, it reduces over time. I'm sorry it didn't.

Try estradiol patches, they work great at eliminating hot flashes, I’ve been using them for years now. Talk to your doctor.

Yes, that does seem unusual. I've been on it four years now.

How's your weight, diet, metabolic health?

I am not really over weight. Recently, I lost about ten pounds from 170 to 160. Considering my height of 5'7'', I am considered not to be overweight by much. Diet is not too fatty, practically no red meat. Metabolic health is OK. So, I am puzzled by the sudden surge in hot flushes. Can the hot flushes be due to something else, such as depression and anxiety?

I suppose so, but not sure.

I was given a 4 month shot before my radiation started and I had very bad hot flashed every night when I went to bed and that 4 month shot lasted about 6 months. There's a group on Facebook called "Victims of Lupron". Nasty stuff!

Simply something I recently noticed. My hot flashes had greatly improved since my February shot until my November shot. I monitor my urine pH and noticed the urine pH just after the shot plummeted to the mid 5 range. My hot flashes returned from an improved what I call moist moments. 7-7.25 is my target. This time the urine pH continues to be a little more difficult to balance however is greatly improved as are my hot flashes and night sweats gone and all that remain are moist moments. Merry Christmas

Hey dac! I did at least six tri- monthly lupron shots . Then an orch allowed me to drop the shots . I had terrible side effects including major night sweats then chills .. I stopped another test adt drug( Tak -700 ) six months ago after almost 8 yrs on it . I’m floating with no adt and no t .. that is a whole different ball of wax for a man ..My choice . But having no visible pc is great!

37.5 mg of the antidepressant Effexor took away my hot flashes, but I’m only 4 months into Elligard.

You might ask your doctor about a trial Rx.
