Excercise

I knew exercise is important and i mountain bike (e-assist now) 3 miles a day up a very very steep road but that is not enough. I hiked up about 350 feet vertical, very steep hill to check my springs today. I had weakness and stiffness in my calves before but it is gone now. I think you need really serious exercise. I might try to find space for the bowflex. But without building an addition that is going to be a challenge. Anyone want some really good junk? I imagine most of us are in the get rid of stuff phase like me.

Exercise is very important! Do what you must to get the heart rate up at least 3-4 times a week. My choice is vigorous lap swimming. On alternate weekdays it is a Silver Sneakers class with my wife.

For cardio I run 3 miles 5 times/wk. The advantage of running is you don’t need any equipment besides running shoes and you don’t have to go anywhere to do it. Just go out your front door. I also weight train 3-4 times/wk and swim laps 2 times/wk, more often in the winter when it’s harder to get outside to run.

In good weather I hike 3 miles each morning with the Border Collie. She gets in a good swim at the 1.5 mile mark. For bad weather I row indoors.

I play hockey twice a week with guys younger than me. And do HIIT and weights 3 time's a week. All my life I've loved exertion. So in a sense I am lucky as it is not a foreign lifestyle I had to adopt to survive ADT. It's just that now 63 and on ADT I have to eat sensibly, take occasional naps and go to bed early to recover

Are you on Lupron or similar? If so remember you need resistance training, no matter how much cardio you do.

Actually, you need it anyway.

Bowflex is fine. Weights, bands, kettlebells, calisthenics any or all of it.

I am on Firmagon and Abaterone and prednisone. Might be the pred more than anything. I guess I need to set up the bowflex. That will be a major challenge.
