Gotta Love This Japanese Doctor (We all need a bit of silly humor at times!)

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?

A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that's it... Don't waste time on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it's like saying you extend life of a car by driving faster. Want to live longer? - Take a nap.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: Oh no! Wine made from fruit. Fruit very good. Brandy distilled wine, that means they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Grain good too. - Bottoms up!

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can't think of one, sorry. My philosophy: No pain...very good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food fried in vegetable oil. How getting more vegetable be bad?

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: You crazy?!? HEL-LO-O-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around.

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.

Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! 'Round' is also a shape!

Well...I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:

Finally, the Japanese Doctor summed it up by saying: "Look mister, life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - beer in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride my life was!!!!!"

Eat whatever you like because you will still DIE, don't allow motivational speakers to deceive you.

1. The inventor of the treadmill died at the age of 54.

2. The inventor of gymnastics died at the age of 57.

3. The world bodybuilding champion died at the age of 41.

4. The best footballer in the world Maradona died at the age of 60.

BUT,

5. The KFC inventor died at 94.

6. Inventor of Nutella brand died at the age of 88.

7. Imagine, cigarette maker Winston died at the age of 102.

8. The inventor of opium died at the age of 116 in an earthquake.

9. Hennessey Cognac inventor died at 98.

How did these doctors come to the conclusion that exercise prolongs life?

The rabbit is always jumping up and down but it lives for only a few years, and the turtle that doesn't exercise at all can live for over 100 years.

So, take some rest, chill, stay cool, eat, drink and enjoy your life.

Funny to read and supporting all of us with an unhealthy life style. Could be made by industry, certainly not based on evidence. 😂

Yes! If I had RonRon’s lifestyle I’d want to live as slowly and as long as possible to savor every moment. Be a turtle. (But then, my lifestyle is pretty damn fine and I’m packing every experience I can into it.)Life is short. Don’t waste a minute or day.

And yet: A life well lived is long enough.

I just answered you with a poor me diatribe and I didn’t want to hijack this funny upbeat post or turn this thread into a Debbie downer trip , so I erased it. I agree with you buddy … totally …. I’ve got three days in Moonstone Beach , Cambria … lined up next week … tho my last three tries failed, I’m optimistic that I’ll make this one … gots to get out there and smell some roses b4 it’s too late. .yayahahahaya

Hope you make it there to Moonstone Beach. I'm rootin for you man.

I found a lake spot to fish here in the twin cities (my second summer here) a 6 minute drive and I can park the car right next to the bank and roll down the bank about 8 feet to a sandy spot with trees for shade. Getting back up the 8 feet can be a "huffer puffer" but doable.

I didnt find a debbie downer in that reply. Although Ron knows how it is for you and some of us in the area of physical capability I think sometimes it's a good read for others here to realize some of us here are more compromised than your average PCa guy lol.

BTW to use a phrase made famous by my wife: "I'm not happy " you had sepsis.

My dad got that in his late 70's and it was unknown for awhile. Deeply affected his cognitive status as well. Looked like the end and my mom was quickly trying to learn the computer and all the finances. But he pulled out of it.

I think the term constipation doesn't clue people in. What I had several times in my life and what you are dealing with frequently is fecal impaction. Serious business and no fun.

Thankfully I never had to help anyone with it when I was a Corpsman but when it first happened to me the page in the physicians desk reference came up in my minds eye. I debated for about a minute (people at the hospital picking at this or me) then I got the sterile gloves and went about it. Not pleasant and occurred a few more times in my life. Physically exhausting as well. Was not a good combination with my chemo where I was already fatigued.

Now if I didnt spoil the "fun" here in Ron's post no one can lol. I might have sent it down the toilet. Pun intended lol.

Hey thanks buddy … I appreciate the encouragement and support, I really do. There are about 5 different locations in the upper and lower intestines that are put to sleep by opiates and quit working … and I had all 5 blocked nearly rock solid. I was checking Amazon for one of those10’ plumbing drain snakes yayahahahaya. I loved fishing and informally guided on a local lake for years after I retired. It’s something I could do right out of my truck, fishing is tricky here in vastly overpopulated California, most fish around here come in a truck from the department of fish and game hatcheries yayahahahaya and don’t last long ( a few days ) before they are gone. you have to get in early and out early …tho …when it’s hitting 108f everyday. I got out this morning on my etrike before it got too hot … first time in weeks. It was great to be out on the hike and bike trails again…. If even only for a little while.

Thanks again amigo …

108º? I can't even imagine that! The temp where I live is always between 78º and 85º.

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply to E2-Guy

Yayahahahaya no kidding ..and 115f isn’t that unusual here. You have to be careful outside when it’s hot , especially us older folk. Many people are killed here by the heat … every year. Still, since we live on the edge of the high sierras, the cold glacier and snowpack air falls down into our valley every evening - night and cool’s everything off. Right now ( 8a.m. ) it’s a very comfortable 62f and it will take several hours for the heat to crank back up. In a 24 hour cycle, much of those hours are very comfortable here. Our nightly temps, lately, have been 58f to 62-63f overnight.

100miles west , along the coastal climatic zone its 55f-63f everyday , year round ( where I’m going most of next week ) … and here in Fresno we have 7 climatic zones driving East. Some exotic California cities like S.F. Have 28 distinctly different climatic zones and you can go from 50f , damp - foggy , knee knocking penetrating cold … to .. toasty sun drenched near 90f in just the time it takes to drive across 16th street . they have “ dial-a-weather “ on demand. Feeling hot or cold … it’s easily fixed in short order.

I lived south of Miami , Fla for 8 years and they have weather similar to yours , prolly a bit warmer. Very humid ( rained most days ) and mostly wet rain forest and totally swampy.

I loved the several times time I visited Thailand … just it always seemed to rain a lot…but not very l long. It got a bit steamy after it rained. It was fresh and exhilarating there , after it rained …..I loved it. When I went into the forest there, it was dense and filled with life … thick with it. If you turned over a log or rock, some pretty scary looking creepy crawler things ran all over the place … and, of course, I never knew how many of those things had stingers or dangerous bites. Made it seem even more exotic. Yayahahahaya

Bro,

Were you here in the service? I've been living directly on the beach in Pattaya for 18 years now and I absolutely love the climate! It's perpetual summer here all day/night, all year long. We get very little rain compared to other areas. The occasional brief storms come in like wildfire (mostly at night) from the ocean and are gone within 10 to 15 minutes. Even though I'm on the ocean, our humidity level is seldom ever a problem since there is always an 80º breeze (ocean temp) to keep us comfortable. I can't imagine living anywhere where the climate is more suited to my liking. My 'significant other' spends some time in Chanthaburi (east of here by about 110 miles) with her sister and it rains there all the time.

I would be dead in one or two days living where you are...58º to 115º is way too cold and hot for my puny little chassis. I lived in Chicago for 46 years and was habitually sick with colds...a climate unsuited for humans!

We have no mosquitoes and seldom ever get any critters other than an occasional, cute little gecko that somehow manages to make it to the 38th floor. We normally let them stay in the condo since they are harmless, and had to work very hard (or perhaps come up in the elevator) to get this high.

Sure would love to meet you here before my time is up!

Yes, go man. Get fish. All we can do each day is what we can. So do that. Some days it may be nothing. And that is perfect too. Take pictures for us. Pablo

Nice!

I wish the laying about, the substances (including any that we need not mention), and tasty unhealthy food still gave me the good feeling they once did, I really do.

Sometimes I think only do all this exercise so I can still enjoy a few of these- in puny amounts that would have once had me needing MUCH more.

On the other hand, the ladies, the cars and the electric guitars aren’t going anywhere, even if a few of them are a bit frayed at the edge like me😀

Longevity for its own sake is a fool’s errand, I definitely agree with that.

Haha! The pregnancy question may be solved; however, that's when your troubles begin! Years ago when I had boats in Dallas, my kids, their friends and I were dancing on the swim platform one night and I fell into the lake with my pager, phone, wallet, etc. While I was dragging myself from the lake the kids were laughing their heads off and I said, "Boy do I have rhythm!" My son who knew that my wife and I were practicing the 'Rhythm Method' said, "Dad, if you had any rhythm, Lisa and I wouldn't be here!"
