Sometimes, not always, when I inject testosterone in my thigh there is a delayed reaction a day or two later. The muscle which received the injection does not like being extended, and the center of the pain is a couple of inches below where the injection was made. It goes away in a day or two. I've asked a couple of nurses, but they had no suggestions. Anyone know what is going on or what I might do?

Pain from Testosterone Shots
I injected into my thigh once. Only once. A day later I walked with a limp but it felt like simple muscle pain and nothing more serious.
Now I inject into my glutes. Outer, upper part.
Also, I use an 18 gauge to pull out the cyp, and then switch to a 25g, push out the air, and inject. Two of my friends use 23g for injection so it'll be faster (they both have their wives inject them. I inject myself and don't have issues with the 25g).
And make sure to change the needle you inject with. It gets blunt if you use it twice (I used to use a 25g to pull out the medicine and also to inject - blunted and sometimes a little painful).
There are a lot of youtube videos about injecting. I never inject into delts or things. And never subcutaneous. SubQ, really? Youtube...
Thanks, I will try that.
agree .....test is really thick....I used it for years....Once injected with the 18 and that baby made it rough.....always switch to a smaller needle...I used 25 too...Blue Skies
I found that warming up the bottle in a water bath first, longer needles, and massaging the site afterwards helped.
Sounds reasonable. Maybe 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" instead of the 1" I have been using?
If not already doing as Tall_Allen suggested, **massage following injection**.
Changing the needles is a must. Also, inject very slowly.
Have you tried the upper outer quarter of your bum I always get pain injecting in the leg
Never in my bum
This happens to me every time, but the soreness is mild. In my case the discomfort is about 4" below the injection site.

mild soreness happens to me occasionally also at or just below injection site -- I inject in the thigh with 3/4 inch 25g needle.
I use insulin syringes - 29 gauge - and use shoulders and ventro-glute. I also inject each day instead of weekly which flattens out the peaks and troughs. It takes a bit of time to draw the cyp with the insulin syringe but the advantage is that there is very little pain and over the year I have not had an injection site reaction.
I use a 30 gauge needle every other day--15 ml (30 mg). Takes a minute or two to draw it up. I tried warming the T, but I did not notice a lot of difference. My Endocrinologist has no problem with this method. Need a lot less E2 suppressantthis way. Don't have the "T ride" of larger, less frequent injections.
