Can radiation cause kidney pain?

Started getting a sharp pain in my kidney and/or lower back a few hours after my radiation therapy today. Don't know if it is related to the therapy or not and I didn't find anything about this online but since we have pros here, I figured I'd ask the question here.

Where was the radiation aimed?

From May until last Friday it was aimed at the prostate as well as the lower abdomen, up to L1 I think. As of this Monday, it is now just on the prostate. Aside from the burning sensation in the urethra that began on the 4th session, I do not have any urination issue.

You can ask your RO what the dose to the kidney was (I expect it was small) from the abdominal radiation. Kidney will get only negligible reflected dose from the prostate.

Thanks. Feels like a less acute version of when I had a kidney stone a few years back. At that time, the pain /pressure was so intense that I was finding it hard to breathe which is not the case right now. But I don't think it is a stone because both sides hurt rather than one. Hopefully a good night's rest will make it go away.

Could well be referred pain from some part of the urinary tract.

Or it could be unrelated.

My experience with radiation therapy was as smooth as possible. I had no pain or nausea, nor any other problems to attribute to the treatment. This was in November 2019. I finished the course and immediately the next day began my seasonal job. My treatment was done at the UT - Cancer and Research Center, San Antonio TX.Concurrent with the radiation I was on Lupron therapy. I'm continuing with daily Casodex.

PSA dropped to >0.1. and remains low, 0.14.

I'm dealing with urinary problems that, I'm told, are not the result of the radiation treatment.
