I am considering trying to get into an LU177 trial at MD Anderson, but will probably need to get established with a doctor there first. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good prostate cancer doc there ?

I see Dr. Sumit Subudhi. Really, anyone who is in the urologic oncology group led by Dr. Paul Corn will be excellent.

Hi, I am seen Dr. Alhalabi in MD Anderson in Houston. I am also considering signing up for the trial this upcoming September. I just stated my treatments last month and was there this morning. He is very knowledgeable. I would recommend him. Best of luck brother.

My top two would be Paul Corn or Ana Aparicio.

JoeI also meet w Dr Ana Aparicio in Oncology, Dr Brian Chapin-Surgeon (1500+ RRP’s), and Dr Karen Hoffman- Radiology. All 3 are a great team. Experienced, Compassionate. Just so you know all extremely busy so visits are short. Most of my in office visits and more often Teleconference visits w Dr Ana Aparicio have taken place after her 12-14 hours in Clinic, and at 7:30pm or 8pm. You can just feel the physical exhaustion of dealing w so many Prostate Cancer Patients all day long. Having just Retired myself, I worry about burnout for so many of these Good Dr’s. People may say, oh they’re compensated well for their time. Makes little difference if you’re so busy you cant enjoy your private life. Amazing how many men in the waiting rooms, all with the same serious look on their faces that I must also have.

Best of luck my Brother,

Mike

Thank Spyder...... I have wondered about my uro and onc in tulsa suffering from burn out. They say for some reason urologists are one of the most likely to have burn out.

My URO here in St Pete (Dr Matthew Sorensen) is also awesome but in his mid 30’s, and more energy. But he has to be an expert at many issues, bladder, kidneys, pharmacology, surgery, etc., etc.. Often in random order, all day long.

I really like my uro too. He is also fairly young, but he has to work at multiple locations, and it just seems like he gets spread awfully thin

I have been seeing Dr. Amando Zurita for over 10 years and he has brought me from Stage IV to no visible signs of cancer.

Hello Walter! My husband has been seeing Dr. Zurita also at MD Anderson! Can you please share, if you are comfortable - what types of treatment you have been there at Anderson? My husband just became castration resistant...has been on Lupron/Zytiga.. we are looking at LU177 now (he's Gleason 9, dx 6 mos. ago, mets pelvis, lymph nodes, spine)

After testing to determine that my cancer had not metastasized, I had robotic surgery and thought that got all my cancer, external beam radiation and thought that got all my cancer, hormone suppressant therapy and finally chemo therapy over a four year period in Little Rock and my PSA was still going up. I think my cancer metastasized when I had a needle biopsy. I went to M D Anderson and Dr. Zurita and was immediately placed in a clinical trial with Zytiga and Prednisone. My PSA went from 35.5 to 5.5 to .6 and then to undetectable almost 11 years ago and has remained so for over 10 years with visible shrinkage of the tumors every year until the tumors are no longer visible.I think the world of Dr. Zurita!

I had Dr. K - Ara Karamanian - do my biopsy at MD Anderson. His office is off campus but he is affiliated with that fine facility, using their 3T mpMRI scanner with live ultrasound. It's done while subject in the "tube," for the best accuracy available. The next day, I met with him for consultation and he showed me the scans, pointing out and explaining everything, answered my all my questions completely, let me record the entire consult (laughed when I asked permission, then said, "Why on earth would I object?"). Gave me the DVD of the scans also. Great guy, stays current on EVERYTHING! Had 2nd opinion of biopsy done by another frequently recommended doctor, Jonathan Epstein, at Johns Hopkins Dr. Ara Karamanian - (713) 904-4014
