G'Day all

Just got home from Adelaide after seeing my M.O. & R.O.

My PSA is still low at 0.67, and my PET scan showed that ALL previously visible Mets have disappeared. (Does not mean they are completely gone, just too small to show up on the scan). Only visible cancer is on the right lobe of the Prostate.

Mets on both Iliac crests, both Clavicles, T5&T6, right 7th rib and lymph nodes in the pelvic region have all disappeared.

Have been (and still are) on 1000Mg Zytiga since February 2018 as well as Triptorelin

Neither my Med Onc or Radiation Onc. can come up with a plan for further treatment. They have not given up, but are researching options for me. They have ruled out RP and Brachytherapy due to my previous 8 weeks (40 treatments) of Targeted Beam Radiation in 2013.

I am in a new position where I don't feel in control anymore, but are pretty happy with the result of the scan.

So, my friends, what are your thoughts on possible options from here.

My head's swimming a bit, but as I said..... really happy with the results.

I'm not sure why you need a plan - what you're doing is working just great!

Thanks Tall_Allen ..... just my OCD coming to the fore I guess. PSA is rising steadily at about .1 per month. Still on Zytiga and Triptorelin, but would dearly like to get rid of the "mothership". Urologist, Med Onc and Rad Onc all working together and have referred to me being "rather unique" whatever that means. lol.

With that many metastases, there is no benefit to getting rid of the "mothership." That's been proved in two major randomized clinical trials:

prostatecancer.news/2018/09...

You have millions of cancer cells everywhere in your body, so it no longer depends on the prostate to spread. Removing it doesn't even slow it down at this point.

What does slow it down is systemic therapy (chemo or hormonal), exactly as you've been doing.

Thanks cobber. MO says NO to chemo ... but we are working on that!

Why no chemo? Is your bloodwork bad?

It seems that you're current treatment is going along really well. To the degree possible, stay vigilant but enjoy the ongoing success. If the current treatment begins to fail, there are a number of chemotherapy options available as next steps. In the meantime, enjoy life and those you love.

Absolutely! Coming up to our 50th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks ... so first goal achieved! Side effects from Prednisolone/Zytiga have been kind to me, and I hardly notice them anymore.

Also seek Provenge treatment if you have not yet received it. Combines well with chemo if you go that way.
