Laetrile, Vitamin B-17, Apricot seeds ? Revisit from late 1970’s

Has anyone worked with Laetrile? Vitamin B-17? Apricot seeds? I have just read a book “Alive & Well” by Dr Phillip Binzel. The premise is Laetrile breaks down the shell/armour of Cancer cells allowing our immune system to recognize and kill these cells. Thru “Arsenic Poisoning” but differentiates between the different chemical makeup of Arsenic. He was sued twice by FDA and won, sued by State Med Board and won, sued by AMA and won.

I had tried it when my psa started rising. My psa never stopped rising.

How long did you take it?

Be very wary. That stuff is potentially dangerous and contains cyanide. There is no evidence it is helpful.

Good morning kaptank. Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN), not Cyanide (CN). Just like “table Salt” is Sodium Cloride (NaCl), and Sodium (Na) is one of the deadliest chemicals known to man. Explained below to Cesces. Mike K

St Petersburg, FL

Spyder...Nobody will give an opinion on Laetrile or Arsenic on this forum due to fear of being attacked by some members who have reacted furiously when someone wrote a post about these substances. What I found out from my study of these is that Seeds like Apricot seeds, Apple Seeds, Peach seeds ,bitter almonds etc have this substance called AMYGDALIN...and this chemical is a type of Cyanide..Cyanide is a notorious poison which can cause death.

In literature, many people have been reportedly took Apricot seeds (7 to a maximum of 10 seeds a day) and they claimed that their cancer got better. But controversy about Amygdalin's toxicity and risk continues for last several decades.

As for Arsenic...There are epidemiological, population based studies reporting that prostate cancer risk was significantly lower in areas where arsenic content in drinking water was mildly higher. The areas with high arsenic levels in drinking water had higher prevalence of prostate cancer. So, it seems like a binary effect.. meaning very low amount Arsenic ingestion can work as anti cancer whereas high amount of Arsenic ingestion can act as pro cancer effects along with the risk of Arsenic poisoning.

In some part of world, Homeopathic doctors prescribe a medicine called Arsenic Album which contains a tiny amount of Arsenic oxide and claims have been made that it stopped growth of cancer cells.

My conclusion is that using Amygdalin or Arsenic oxide is like playing with fire and one can have more harm than benefit if any mistake is made in dose or other parameters.

i am just reporting and am not recommending any of the substances mentioned above.

Spyder54, Eating 5 to 7 bitter almonds or Apricot seeds can be debated but intravenous laetrile...I would say is potentially like jumping in a well of fire. Hope none of us try intravenous Laetrile until scientifically everything about this substance is known and proven. Eating More than 5 or 7 bitter almonds a day ...is like going into dangerous territory IMO. Everyone.. please be aware and do not take laetrile IV or oral.

I had 2 weeks of daily infusion of a cocktail including B-17 in Germany in a so called Alternative cancer medicine Clinic. That is when my PSA started to rise in 2013. Could not stop the rise at all! Waste of money.untested , unproven medicine is ineffective and dangerous.

Thank you all. I will copy and post the page where he discusses Arsenic vs Cyanide Arsenic. I was asking more as a supplement to Western Medicine, and not a stand alone. This Dr died at 76, but not sure of cause. He also goes into detail of the strict protocol of vitamin supplements in unison which were critical. Said could load the body to the ears with Laetrile, but without Zinc there was no delivery to the cells. Think 60 minutes did a piece on this in late 70’s. Some of the best cures have come out of dusty ol file cabinets.

There is no such vitamin as B-17 - aka the Flying Fortress.

The subject does come up on a yearly basis. To save time:

healthunlocked.com/advanced...

I changeed my profile name from Robertleeb to Bobbysacredword because I was off of this blog for a couple of years.and closed my email account. I did B17 while doing my radiation treatments. My PSA went to .1 but I was on statins at 80 milligrams per tablet. I can't say what caused my liver enzymes to be alleviated but I quit taking the statins and B17, since my PSA was below 1 and my liver enzymes came back to normal. I think the combination created the problem but, I don't do either anymore , just changed my diet with no sugar, no grains and low carbs. I have lowered my A1C from 6.2 to 5.5. I also do eat THC gummies and CBD oil. that have claimed to do the same as B17 but with no cyanide, look up "Dennis Hill cures Prostate Cancer with eating cannabis " I guess his PC was at stage 3 or 4 too. you have to listen to his testimonial, he is a Chemist too so he talks how the cannabis works, pretty in-depth too. I don't claim that it is working for me but my PSA has been .3 for 4 years.I would say mostly my diet change has kept me the healthiest. no sugar or processed food!!

God Bless

Glad to see that you are still with us. -Patrick

Thank you again PJ. Much appreciation. Currently in Colorado, then MD Anderson. When I am back in St Pete will copy the pages on strict protocol and differences in chemical compostion.

There is no peer-reviewed evidence to support it. And anyone actually selling it as a medical treatment in the US is violating criminal law.

I do swallow apple seeds. Always did eat the core, unless the apple was crummy. They never killed any of my chickens either. Boy, do they like apples.

Pumping "Laetrile, Vitamin B-17, Apricot seeds" is the equivalent to pumping bleach as a treatment.

Sorry. Just the facts.

A little touchy aren't we. Facts are facts. Spreading dangerous information is spreading dangerous.

I don't think I am the one you should be offended at.

What are your credentials? You should state your credentials that support your claims that bleach and B-17 are equivalent treatments, otherwise it's just a another opinion. Still don't understand why politics are necessary...but some people have nothing better to do I guess

cesces profile image
cesces in reply to TomTom1111

Both bleach and so called B-17 injure and kill when used as a substitute for real treatment.

What kind of credential does it take for a human being to understand that?

Like determining a person's cause of death if they are choked for 3 minutes after they have lost a pulse.

How self evident does something need to be? And why would you hold me to a higher standard than others here. There are only a few people here who are physicians, and they really don't post hardly at all.

What is the standard you use for making your own treatment decisions?

TomTom1111 profile image
TomTom1111 in reply to cesces

First. I use evidence based treatments and I don't insult others on this site who may have a different view of what constitutes evidence.

You seem to apply a double standard to peoples responses to your post; you get to insult people on this site but you insists any insults directed back at you is done via private messages.

I often go camping and I always bring bleach to purify my water because I don't trust the well water at the camping facilities.

I wouldn't eat or take laetril for any thing but at certain quantities it is not poisonous.

You should educate yourself more before you lecture people on what and what not to consume.

And now I say goodbye to you.

"Laetrile"

Laetrile. I was mocking the promotion of Laetrile as a cancer treatment.

You weren't promoting it, I guess, so why the hostility?

It was some other folks who went ad hominem. I recollect you were in the vanguard.

You realize that ad hominum don't make me less right.

Encouraging people to self medicate prostate cancer with laetrile has potential to do much damage.

cesces profile image
cesces in reply to TomTom1111

Oh wait. TomTom1111 you are the original poster?

I can't believe this. LoL

You posted this about laetrile, but you don't encourage it's use to treat cancer?

Hmmmmm

One option is to admit error and thank me correcting that error before it caused any damage.

"Laetrile, Vitamin B-17, Apricot seeds" have been proven as quackery for decades.

TomTom1111 profile image
TomTom1111 in reply to cesces

I don't recall ever stating that B-17/Apricots seeds were a treatment for anything. Are you one of those trolls who goes around pestering people via an anonymous name? Reading your posts on this thread you seem guilty of that.

1. I never got around to criticizing the anonymous promoter of Laetrile.

2. "TomTom1111" = anonymous name

3. So TomTom1111 please explain the critical thinking behind encouraging people to self medicate with Laetrile (or bleach or Lysol for that matter).

Approximately 12 months ago the maker of lysol was compelled to put out a public announcement not to inject or ingest Lysol. We're they trolling it's promoter or protecting the public? (though people still showed up at emergency rooms anyways).

4. Asking a question about fringe science quackery with a health threatening implied answer, to desperate people.

That question needs to be called out. In my opinion.

Just because I disagree with you doesn't make me a bad person.

If you feel the need to resort to Ad hominem argument, isn't that evidence of weakness in the quack cancer treatment you are attempting to advance?

If you want to engage in additional ad hominem argument, I submit it is off topic and you should private message it to me.

Thank you in advance

Neither Laetrile, Lysol, nor bleach should ever be used internally to treat any medical condition, including but not limited to cancer. Period.

Did you confuse my attack on your laetrile treatment idea as an attack on you?

It appears so?

My grandfather and his three sons all passed from prostate cancer. Three of the four elected standard of care at the time, which was open surgery. the fourth went to an alternative clinic in Mexico and used laetrile among other treatments. He passed from prostate cancer as well. His quality of life might have been better as the side effects of surgery in those days were often pretty disagreeable. but death was at the same approximate age as brothers and father and from the same cause, good old PC.

Thank you for sharing. Tragic really Sorry for your loss, and Genetic pre-disposition for PCa. Interesting case study. I was thinking as an addition to my ADT+2nd gen + hopes of an RP. Are you BRCCA or ATM positive?

Guys sorry if This went off course. We are all Brothers and all seek information. Mine was simply a question. I read the book cover to cover. TomTom is right as is Tall Allen. We need evidenced based, scientifically proven ideas when stating facts. Mine was a question. I may add it is amazing how much of progress find things in old libraries and old file cabinets which did not work 30 years ago, but when matched with modern science take on a whole new dimension Capice’?

Cesces, I said I would show where in the book Dr Binzel shows this is not Hydrogen Cyanide.

"A straw man (sometimes written as strawman) is a form of argument and an informal fallacy of having the impression of refuting an argument, whereas the real subject of the argument was not addressed or refuted, but instead replaced with a false one.[1] One who engages in this fallacy is said to be "attacking a straw man"."

"Amygdalin (from Ancient Greek: ἀμυγδαλή amygdálē "almond") is a naturally occurring chemical compound best known for being falsely promoted as a cancer cure. It is found in many plants, but most notably in the seeds (kernels) of apricots, bitter almonds, apples, peaches, and plums."

I tried the almond (peach kernel) for several months consumed 20 kernels with pinaple. After a while I got BCR and had to go to SRT. So I think using other alternatives plus the convensional therapy is a better choice.

No Name.

Please refrain from reading and responding to my postings.

And for you alone, I heartily encourage your use of laetrile exclusively for a one man clinical trial.

Please report back the results so that we may all learn from your fearless tough guy thought leadership.

Thank you

"But you sir are a troll and for your edification, the father and sons that were indicted for peddling bleach to treat covid have been peddling bleach to treat medical conditions since at least 2018 and possibly long before that."

And so????

How does that justify anything?

"A quick internet search on the father show a book published in 2018 and at one time was available for sale on Amazon. So I guess Jeff Bezos is a MAGA supporter now too...who cares."

My hat is off to you and your impeccable logic.

Question, if you are not a supporter of laetrile and bleach as treatment of serious diseases, why are you carrying on like this.

Take a principaled stand against the promotion of laetrile and bleach as serious medications

The verdict: “Laetrile has not been proven to be effective against cancer and can even be dangerous to some patients,” Dr. Yeung says. “If amygdalin is eventually used in an anticancer drug, it will have to be in a different form, because the oral form is toxic and too dangerous to use.” SOURCE: mskcc.org/news/truth-behind...

That particular individual is very difficult to have an exchange with. For some peculiar reason he believes I am you and was attributing your posts with me. I even pointed this out to him to no avail.

For the record, I do not believe taking laetrile will have any impact on PCA.

I also do not equate it to bleach either.

I understand. I went to him privately, one on one, and he understands it was my question. Not yours. And NOT a statement. If you click on anyones Bio, you can send a personal message. Most of this conversation went completely off topic and should have been personal messaged one on one.

Yep. I aware of that feature...but that individual I wouldn't waste my time on. He constantly brings politics into his posts which is completely uncalled for. We may all have different political views but I believe we all have some form of Stage IV PCA. Today's overly politicized society is driving wedges among the population, we don't need those wedges here.

Agreed. We are all Brothers on this site. All looking for an edge that brings us to better “Health Unlocked”.
