PSMA/Pet-Cat .. Where?

over the past 18 months I've been treated w/ADT for Prostate cancer that had metastasized to my bones .. although my PSA is still <4 .. it has be trending up. I am wondering next steps,. wondering where (New England, USA) could I get PSMA-Pet/cat scan to assist with the discussion and decisions ahead of me? thanks.

It's only FDA approved so far at UCLA and UCSF. However, you may be able to qualify for this PSMA PET/CT at Johns Hopkins:

There will be more sites as the FDA approves them.

You can get an Axumin PET/CT almost anywhere, which should be equally sensitive at your PSA.

Allen, what have you heard about approval of the PyL Pet? Do you believe this scan will be more readily accessible than the gallium scan?

I haven't heard anything. They've filed with the FDA and it's been fast-tracked. F18, the radioisotope in all approved PET radioindicators, can be made in advance and distributed as needed. Ga68 requires an onsite Ge68/Ga68 generator and specialized expertise (Jeremie Calais at UCLA and Tom Hope at UCSF).

thanks, Allen.. I had my 3 month follow up and Lupron shot yesterday. continuing Lupron/1000mg Abi treatment,. but a Pet/Axumin scan has been ordered at UVM.

.. denied, insurance denied the PET, MO is doing a 'peer-to-peer' .?. bummed.. 😔

I was able to get in to a PSMA PYL clinical trial at Stony Brook University Hospital in Long Island NY. Zero cost to me.

The University of Iowa, in IA City provides a PSMA-PET scan. It's not FDA approved in IA, but they've applied for it.
