PSMA pet scan

Where can I get a PSMA scan that I can send to University of Heidelberg doctord who are treating me with AC-225 and PU-177. I have been there 3 times and Psa is 8 tested only 3 weeks after treatment. Should go lower. Doctors want the scan to determine reduction of tumor mass compared to scan done in June in Germany. This scan will determine if I need a 4th treatment. If I do not need another treatment I then do not have to go to Germany. If I cannot get scan in the US then i have to go to Germany do scan and sent home if there is the necessary results.U of M turned me down because I still have a prostate and do not qualify.

My PSA has not been this low in about 20 years. Thanks

There are clinical trials, you need to review and see if you could qualify:

clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/resu...

DCFPyl is also a PSMA scan:

clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/resu...

Stanford is another possibility. Possible contact:

David Marcellus

Clinical Research Coordinator Associate

Cancer Clinical Trials Office - Radiology

800 Welch Road, FC3C88

Palo Alto, CA 94304

Tel: 650-723-4547

My understanding is that the studies done at NIH in Bethesda MD are free of charge.

I just called around this week. In the US, I think only UCLA is offering it now outside of Lu-177-PSMA therapy (as at Weill Cornell or UCSF). They have a month-long waiting list right now, but it may move more quickly next month. A contact said she thought Indiana University (below) may be offering it. I never heard back from Excel Diagnostics (below). All the other sites would exclude you or have wrapped up their clinical trials and are no longer producing it.

• Indiana University, Indianapolis - James Fletcher

• Excel Diagnostics, Houston -Ebraham Delpassand -(713) 781-6200

Just as FYI, when you follow the above link to James Fletcher at Indiana university, the phone listed on that page takes you to a fax line. There seems to be another number where it says find a doctor below that we will try later when it is closer to office hours, but wanted to give anyone trying to find a psma test a heads up on this number

Follow up we contacted Indiana through the main medicine number and found James Fletcher retired two years ago. We did get connected with nuclear medicine who told us they do have clinical trials for psma tests. We connected with Marietta who is connecting us with LeAnn number for Marietta is 317-274-7477. Waiting for LeAnn to call back to let us know info on psma scan will post when we get that info.

Not sure where you are in the world but I had Ga-68 PSMA PET/CT scan at Charite Healthcare Services in Berlin. Very helpful and after professional consultation came away with CD of all scans cost of 3.495,00 Euro

I too had my PSMA at Charité. The English-speaking staff and doctor were very professional and took a great deal of time to explain both the procedure and the results. I too received imaging CDs and a written report in German (and an English translation for a small extra fee). The administration, however, was less than helpful wih regard to payment in that they did not (in 2018) accept credit cards, only cash (euros) or a debit card linked to a German bank. The problem here in the U.S. (Palm Springs, CA) was that none of my doctors knew how to read the imaging discs and they disregarded the written report b/c the PSMA scan is not yet approved here in the U.S.

The choline c-11 pet scan can be done at mayo clinic. This scan is more sensitive than the Axumin scan. They are both very pricey but they do show where the cancer is hiding. I hope this helps you out.

You got that backwards. Axumin is much more sensitive:

Talked to a dr that said to get my first gallium(sp) psma scan at .5 for a baseline. Are they sensitive enough for that low of a psa. I assume he could see something to rule it a baseline but will it see cancer?

At a PSA of 0.5, Ga-68-PSMA will detect mets in about half to two-thirds of recurrent men

I had mine at UCSF in December with a PSA of .3 Two mets were found in lymph nodes. Just had a total PLND last Thursday as a result.

Interesting. They need to get off their ass and make that test first thing done. Rule out cancer where it isn’t and fed it where it is.
