Wetting Bed

I am only 61 but continue to wet the bed🤦🏻‍♂️. I searched on the topic, but not much advice. My other issues: 1. I have had the gastric sleeve; it is imperative I remain hydrated. 2. I wore Depends last night, but with a 29” waist, the S/M don’t work very well as evidenced by last night.

I thought smoking pot was the culprit. I ceased that 2 months ago. I am in a lot of pain from something else and do take a Percocet on occasion.

My MO prescribed Ditropan; after reading ALL the side effects I decided to pass.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don’t even know what to wear to bed anymore. Maybe I should try a clothespin.

Thanks Gents.

I don't have a serious incontinence problem because, fortunately for me, I always seem to wake up before it's too late. So I can't offer personal experience.

I did a search on ( Nighttime Incontinence Products For Men ) on Amazon. Most of what I saw were adult diapers but there was at least one that came in multiple sizes including "small" for men with 26-38 inch waists. A lot of them had good reviews.

There were also a few other solutions, mainly condom type (i.e., external rather than internal) catheters, and I saw a catheter bag leg holder that looks like it might make it easier to roll over when you're sleeping.

Good luck with this. I hope you're able to keep up your spirits.

Thank you. This has been an intermittent problem - but a very troubling one. Thanks for checking out Amazon. Your contribution is appreciated.

I also had the same problem about two years ago. I take Nocdurna nightly still. This started after i was put on Zytiga. No problems prior no changes to other meds.

Do you leak in the daytime? If so, it's no wonder you would leak at night. Did the issue begin after a prostatectomy? If so, I leaked like a river day and night after my prostatectomy for a year. Then I had male sling surgery and the problem has been gone ever since. Hope this may help.

Thanks. I did not have a prostatectomy. Still have the ‘ole organ!

You are on a possible path with the clothespin. 😀 So post RP I could not achieve control (likely as surgery extended to the bladder) and ultimately had to have an AMS800 installed. In between times I used a Weisner Incontinence Clamp. It was comfortable and very effective, even iunder high load exercise. I still pack one in my travel bag in case the AMS fails.

After close to 16 years, I still have my prostate. It may be what I am doing in the evening; Saturday night I took a Percocet and Sunday evening I decided to have an iced coffee. I did neither Monday night and dry sheets Tuesday morning! I see my PCP today.

Hi MJCA,I too still have my prostate and unfortunately I unconsciously limit my water intake to limit frequency of bathroom trips day or night.

I love ice coffee and it is definitely a pee trigger with me. I noticed this before and after my diagnosis.

A couple glasses of water and a half an hour later a cup of ice coffee and I will immediately need to pee.

Hot coffee doesnt seem to do this.

Suggest you schedule a visit to a urologist. I was having the same issue, he detected an issue with my bladder, I am good to go now.

I have serious incontinence since prostatectomy in Jan 2019.I use large women’s pads with “wearever” underpants during the day and

Tranquility overnight absorbent underwear at night

(Basically a good diaper) that works great at night.

Available on Amazon

Plan to get artificial sphincter later this year.

Hope your problem improves".......

Double up on the depends.... make sure you have a plastic or rubber liner in the bed. Pee before you go to bed and no drinking 2 hours before you go to bed. You can set your alarm to wake you in the middle of the night so you can pee and then go back to sleep.

Clothespins work but you're gonna look silly hanging from a line.....

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

I have started using liners again. I normally don’t drink too much past 8:00 pm. I get what you’re saying - t-h-a-n-k-s. j-o-h-n

I would definitely get to a Urologist to help you figure out what is exactly going on. They would be able to do a Urodynamic study to see how well you fill and empty your bladder. It is curious that you have not had a prostatectomy and are having this issue. In the meantime, while this may not be the most comfortable solution, a "Texas catheter" or "condom catheter" can aid in wearing any kind of absorbent device especially if there is a large amount of fluid involved. amazon.com/s?k=texas+cathet...

Thanks for sharing your very personal problem on this site. I'm 60 years old and have metastatic prostate cancer for which I had a RALRP in 2015 to take my cancer riddled prostate. I struggled just a bit with continence. And soon was down to wearing a small pad inside my underwear. About a year ago I began having problems with wetting the bed. I'm in a pickle (no pun intended, boys!) because I desperately need to hydrate but can't seem to safely drink water after 5pm without incident. I have just begun to focus on my long forgotten Kegel exercises to see if I can strengthen the relationship with my non-autonomic functional urine sphincter.

Here’s a real personal issue!! I wish I could get it up! I am a single gay man. Unfortunately, at 61 I believe I will live the remainder of my life that way.

Dear MJCA, I've read over your posts and see what a rough time of it you've had. I salute you for your fortitude! I'm heterosexual and feel such loss with this prostate cancer since my wife and I shared an intimate and active sex life which was mutually fulfilling. We both feel that loss sharply!

Having been diagnosed at such a young age you must feel the loss of your sex life acutely. Have you lost all of your libido? What does your oncologist say? Have you tried using injections to achieve an erection? My wife and I have experimented with penile injections to varying levels of success. I've reached the end of suggestions.

Getting into a real personal issue I've found the only one that gets me hard enough for penetration is straight Alprostadil. The problem with using this drug is that the aftereffect of giving myself this injection is that the whole genital area feels like it's been stung by a bee! The discomfort is so distracting I can't think about what I'm doing physically, which takes me out of the intimacy. My therapist would say, "Why on earth would you go through this painful procedure?" My reply was that my cancer has robbed her of the release she so badly needs that I'll endure whatever to minimize the effects of my cancer on her life.

There may come a day where we mutually settle on having no more attempts at this form of intimacy. I have no libido but my brain still covets the wash of hormones that would bathe my brain at climax. That may never change.

Hi Scoofer33

It is what it is. I lose 210+ pounds and have NO desire, but I keep troweling the web sites. Nowadays, I “could” have a different partner every night 🤦🏻‍♂️. If things worked. I went to a urologist. Nothing more emasculating than being injected than having someone do an ultrasound on your penis.

I found out I have leaking blood vessels. The only thing that will work is an implant. That will make the parts work but will not recover my libido. Such is life!
