Hi everyone. Just let me say before I get started, that I appreciate all you say and do on this site. I'm 57 and was diagnosed at 55. Gleason's 9. I had a prostatectomy, 35 rounds of radiation, and a yrs worth of Lupron. My yr was up last October, and at my check up in January , I was undetectable . I'm back in the gym, lifting weight, and like to lift. I don't know the in and outs of why it's so important, other than the obvious. Does it do something special to cancer to help keep it at bay. Just really not sure. Another thing is, and it's kinda embarrassing, is there a way to speed up the reverse of Lupron, to get my labido back and be able to have sex w the wife. It's been a long long time. It has to be a better way than just wait. Thnx for reading

Hi there, Oldeenglishbulldogge. I have been on Lupron briefly & could not take the side effects, so hats off to you.On another note ask your Doc to prescribe for an injection that will give you a good erection. I use 2ml of this & freddie will not go down for three hours.

On the bottle is Alprostadil 40mcg, Atropine sulphate & Papaverine but your GP should know all about it. No Side Effects!!!

Good Luck.

Thank you so much, I will check w my Doc. tomorrow. Do the injections hurt anymore than a regular shot?

The treatment I have came with a device you put the needle in & you just press the button & I do not even know it has happened, just a slight sting.

T rises after stopping Lupron in every men. But, the extent of rise varies from man to man. Also, speed of rise varies from man to man. And final level of T also varies from man to man.Libido only comes back when T has risen to 300 or above. Some people say that using amino acid, Arginine or using Viagra also helps to bring back libido and improved performance.

Research studies indicate that exercise does prolong survival. A study from Poland concluded that the group which played soccer(football) lived longer than the group which did not play soccer. And the difference was statistically significant between these two groups of men with metastatic PCa.

It helps maintain lean body mass - it doesn't keep your cancer at bay. What is your current testosterone level?

T does not recover naturally in every case. You're about 6 months off ADT, so there is a ~90% chance your T has recovered substantially, and that you'll feel better soon. You'll need to monitor it, and take another course (e.g., TRT) if needed.

My T started to recover at about 3 months off of Lupron/Zytiga and was fully back at around 6 months. For the ED/libido issue my urologist put me on a daily maintenance dose of 40 mg Sildenafil (generic Viagra) and then when sex was imminent I could up the dose as needed. That seemed to help a lot for me.

Good for you .👍

Back squats Nal! The breathing type squat for those who can't handle heavy weight because of other issues like back, knees and so on. High rep, a complete breath and exhalation at the top of each squat before inhaling to squat. Try to work into a full range of motion if possible. ATG! You know what that means. Don't forget to set the safeties! Breathing squats will raise T maybe more than any exercise. I do as many as 30 because I can't handle the weight due to fluoroquinolone damage to a ligament for a SI joint which originally happened in 1988 throwing shovels of wet snow across the street. I had forgotten all about that ligament injury until the fluoros 27 years later! When I started the breathing squats a year ago last March the squats were all I did. I started with an empty bar because of the fluoro damage. Old shoulder damage had also come back and I couldn't lift with my arms. I believe that in addition to T my body was producing growth hormones--the stuff the NFL players get suspended or not for, (Rodney Harrison--yes, Peyton Manning--no--his wife was using GH!--ok), using when injured because it hastens and promotes healing. Some size began to show up in my arms I wasn't waking as often from shoulder pain at night. I could bend over and arrange food on a baking sheet without "taking a break" because of the back pain. I began adding exercises keeping the weight low.

20-rep Breathing Squats | Iron Man Magazine

ironmanmagazine.com/20-rep-...

Feb 17, 2011 · One of the best high-rep squatters was Tom Platz, who finished as high as third in the Mr. Olympia. He had arguably the best thigh development of any bodybuilder—ever. He claims to have squatted 585 pounds for 23 reps, and in 1993 at a fitness expo in Germany he took on Fred Hatfield in a squatting exhibition.

Charles Poliquin who has unfortunately passed early, set up a training facility in a town nearby me. He trained those who are now staffing that facility. Poliquin was noted for training professional athletes, bodybuilders and Olympic "amateurs". When he first opened up he outfitted his rented space with Hammer Strength equipment while his building was being built. Being Canadian he had preference for a brand similar to Hammer Strength that is made in Canada. When he sold the Hammer Strength equipment I got an unbelievable deal on a H.S., prone, bi-lateral, leg curl. I met with a manager when I bought it and --you will like this--when I had loaded the leg curl into my truck, the manager handed me a tube of a cream saying that it was their habit when selling a piece of equipment to give a supp or whatever. He said "You lift, try this if you have joint soreness". The cream contained curcumin! Poliquin had it formulated for his business.

If one can do the multi-joint lifts using good form the heck with the amount of weight. That can come later as form, ligament, tendon and muscular strength increase. It is better, in my opinion, to use lighter weight when rehabbing injured areas and go for it for the rest. Stimulating one's body to produce T and growth hormone is the goal. I have used a chest expander and bands as preferential therapy equipment when possible. The resistance starts at nil or minimal and increases rather than a weight. A functional trainer can also be very helpful.

Breathing squats are #1 .🏋🏽‍♂️

Steve Reeves used breathing squats followed by light pull overs to expand his ribcage. That might happen if a teen was doing that. Once your bones have stopped growing it isn't likely although Arnold Swarzenegger felt that dumbbell pullovers expanded his rib cage.

Don’t Forget the Dumbbell Pullover | Arnold Schwarzenegger

schwarzenegger.com/fitness/...

Arnold always raved about the benefits of the movement, and even used to say that he thought the pullover even expanded his rib cage. I’m not totally sure the science is there for that particular benefit when it comes to pullovers, but I do know there’s a laundry list of items that makes this an effective weapon in your arsenal.

My opinion is that if a 15 year old consistently does these exercises, the exercises might well expand their ribcage. Not once one is out of their teens though.

First off have a talk with the surgeon and find out how many nerves he removed or damaged.. It it important to keep blood flowing to your penis. I had physical therapy right after the RP. The PT started me using a Vacuum erection device right away to draw blood into the penis daily. She also had the DR order trimix injections that created a erection for 3 hrs to do that once a week. The auto injectors sometimes bend the tip of the .031 needles. Look up FrankTalk.org for discussions on injections, implants and such.

Actually my surgeon told me nothing was coming back as he removed all my nerves. I got an implant 9 months after the RP. My sign in name is "oldbeek" on " FrankTalk.0rg". you can read more about my experiences there. So sorry to hear of your diagnosis with PC at such a young age.

Welcome to the pack ,BullDog ! Exercise is the only thing agreed upon that is good for everything . Weightbearing to stave off osteo . Cardio training for the heart . Cancer hates oxygen .. Labido? That’s a tuff cookie to crumble . We are all different . I’ve had no t or no labido for six years now . But I get night wood each and every night like a teenager . It might be due to high Thc oil and nightly naltrexone and 20 mgs melatonin ? I chopped my balls and my penis shrank in half . Not a pretty picture ..My body was depleted because I couldn’t lift or workout much for my first 18 months during 8 weeks and double adt ( Lupron and Tak —700 a defunct adt drug )that’s still working for me . I had a tube out of my penis and tubes into my kidneys for 18 months . Once I shed that hell we went to Hawaii. Still had my balls then . Made love .I was in heaven to enjoy her again . She was mortified .I couldn’t cum . Rock hard and half the size . She felt big . I felt terrible . Then I chopped the boys and no more sex since 2017 .. good thing thatI had much love in my prior 53 years before APC clipped my wings . So it’s important to work out . I’m in osteo penia and take prolia shots and nutrients to try to hold on to some bone health after losing much already . Avoid that , and you are ahead of the game ? APC will not got and hide for ever . We take it with us to the end . For some the heart goes first . Each day not in severe pain or near doctors must be relished .. Pluck the day ! Good luck .

My friend” Lucky “ had an RP and he took the shot to the penis . It would not go down for seven hours .it was painful and he had to go the the hospital for help. No thanks .. each to their own

Exercise is just the obvious..won't itself keep cancer at bay but anything you can do to ramp up your immune system will help fight it off....SEX?, Prostatectomy?, Those 2 words don't usually go together.but if your able? All good to you..it can take quite awhile to regain labido after stopping Lupron..best of luck.
