Bone Pain Remedy

For those unfortunate enough to have had bone pain, was you able to remedy it? And if so how ?

My Dad has had some sharp pain running up outside of one of his legs around the side of the calf when he walks and some pins and needle in both feet. Obviously nerve irritation or bone infiltration could be a possibility.

Did any spot radiotherapy, xofigo or alike eliminate the pain and did you have anything like denosumab to help prevent recurrence ?

Should my Father be on Denosumab anyway given he has bone mets and osteoporosis?

Any other info would be great.

We are of course going to check in with Dads oncologist as well.

Hello, There are people better qualified than me to answer most of your questions but I will respond to your question about denosumab (aka Prolia or in higher doses Xgeva). I have been taking Prolia for nearly eight years (seven years and nine months). It has been around for about ten years. In my opinion anyone, with bone metastases should be taking this drug to prevent skeletal related events (SREs). This monoclonal antibody is designed to target a protein called RANK Ligand or RANKL, which is necessary for the breakdown of bone. By blocking RANKL, Prolia helps prevent excessive breakdown of bone, giving osteoblast cells enough time to effectively build up more bone. Prolia is easier to take than Zometa. It requires a simple subcutaneous skin injection. Also, patients receiving a maintenance dose of Prolia do not have to monitor kidney function as closely as Zometa. Hope that helps!

It could be sciatica too. Denosumab may prevent fractures, but it won't reduce the size of metastases. Where are his bone metastases, how big are they, and how many are there?

I can only speak for MYSELF.I had excruciating pain migrating daily to different places throughout my skeleton for months. Dx stage 4 in 2018 PSA 1303.

I successfully treated mine with 200-400mg of CBD oil for pain while SOC ADT slowed up the full skeletal metastatic growth.

I cut back from a dozen opoids down to 2 now. I've cut back CBD to about 40mg.

Last PSA .4 and pain tolerable.

Is there a specific CBD oil that you were using?

I order online from diamondcbd.com though available most anywhere. Use coupons for 50-85% off.Tincture, in olive oil , 30ml/1oz, 2500-3500mg whatever available.

Dose drops on 1/2 oyster cracker(s) under tongue. 600 drops in bottle. Do math. High pain, every 4 hours. Receding pain I cut back on frequency and dose. No SE for ME except better sleep, less pain. Remember this is MY story. I was able to reduce pain and opiate use.

I put use on my medication list for all Drs and use with their knowledge for any treatment interaction issues.

Are the pins and needles neuropathy? I was given Gabapentin for that. It sure didn't cure it, but it may be better. I have a T12 compression fracture (doesn't bother me) and a couple of disks lower down that were so bad I couldn't bend all the way over. The choice I was given was Tramadol or back surgery. The Tramadol has worked very well. (I could tell the difference within a week.) Best of wishes.
