Depends on the expiration date. If it's expired for less than year, I would not worry about it.
The respected Medical Letter did a study and concluded that every solid form medicine (pill or capsule) is safe and fully effective for at least one year after expiration date.
My brother works for big pharma, they ran tests on drugs that were 30 years old. No difference. They say - in private - that "it's a drug, not a natural substance, so it doesn't morph into something else". However, they must say in public to throw expired drugs away, but that is profit motivated only.
I asked Dr. Sartor that question a couple months ago during a consult and he said not to worry, expiration dates have a maximum amount of time listed on the bottle that companies are required to put on a label but it doesn’t mean it is not effective beyond that date.

Sure...... Not birth control pills however....... but if you do you may want to consider the nickname "EXPIRED" for the baby.........

You should never use expired medication. You should not assume that the medication was mixed, formed (if tablet) and packaged (bottled) the same day or even week. The medication could have been mixed and stored in bins for weeks to months before it is formed and bottled. Many drug manufactures produce multiple drugs in each facility and it is no easy task to change over for each drug manufactured.
I worked for 2 years in a drug manufacturing facility. I know this from first hand experience.
