Yes ...

Interestingly, men on eligard or lupron tend to have milder Covid 19 . Same with men who are on anti androgen meds like Bicalutamide.

I saw a report very early on that indicated that. An Italian study in the early spring. Has it been confirmed as time has passed?

Yes! In fact, you may get moved up in line because of your cancer.

I had to have permission from my oncologist for my flu and other immunizations not because of the Eligard, but the pragdasone taken with Zytega.

Current guidance at my cancer center:

COVID-19 Vaccination:

Currently at the Memorial Hermann Cancer Center, the cancer center team is working with Memorial Hermann Hospital in distribution of the COVID-19 vaccination for patients who are active treatment and had received prior chemotherapy up to 2018 will be receiving the vaccine.

The vaccine is optional.

Some guidelines we recommend for patients who are active treatment are:

We encourage patients on iv or oral chemotherapy to still receive it.

Timing of vaccine will vary based on your treatment schedule:

If general, please try to schedule a week before your next treatment (including immunotherapy), even if you are on every 2-week treatment.

If you are on a continuous oral chemotherapy medication that has an ‘off week’, schedule your vaccine during your ‘off week’.

If you are on a continuous oral chemotherapy, you can schedule at any point.

If you are actively receiving IV antibody therapy such as Herceptin, Perjeta, Rituxan, or Avastin, you can schedule your vaccine at any time while on this medicine.

If you are oral hormonal therapy such as anastrozole, letrozole, exemestane, fulvestrant, or tamoxifen or bicalutamide or Lupron, these therapies do not put you in an immunocompromised state. You can schedule your vaccine at any time while on this medicine.

If you have completed chemotherapy from now to 2018, you still qualify for the vaccine.
