My husband died around 10 tonight. Silent night will never be the same for me. He loved Christmas.

So many thanks to you all. You made the journey possible and bearable.

Fight on.

You were there by your Husbands side throughout this battle. You advocated for him from the very beginning and you shared his journey in order to help him and others. May your grief ease with time, may these most unpleasant memories of his prostate cancer and suffering be replaced by more beautiful memories of the wonderful times you have spent together.

My deepest and sincere condolences.

Ian.

He is in peace now. My heart goes out to you at this time, it must be hard for you and your family to think of Christmas. But please put up your decorations and celebrate his memory, joyful and triumphant 🎅

You have had a hard journey together the last 2 years. You have transcended physical pain and now must do the same mentally. I lost my best friend years ago at Christmas and still thoughts trigger tears. Tears are for happy times lost. I am so sorry for your loss. Embrace the happy times and celebrate your life and times together.

This part of life (the death part) never makes any sense. I cannot imagine the depth of your pain, in losing your life partner. I’m glad he’s no longer suffering and I hope that you have people nearby who will support you in the next days and months. Sending you love and healing energy.

I'm so sorry. Even when it's expected, it's still a wrenching blow. Not this year, of course, but in the future, I hope you will recall the joy he brought to the holiday.

We don't choose the time and place, he does. This year, I lost my partner of 57 years after she suffered greatly for two years. She left us 2 days after her birthday. May God bless you and please, accept my deepest condolences.

Very sad to hear this news but hopefully we all can take comfort knowing he is no longer suffering.

In particular, thank you so much for sharing the news and the details of the difficult journey you both have been through over the last couple months. Many of us will face that difficult hospice decision you grappled with a couple posts ago, and hearing the stories of others gives us wisdom in making these decisions.

I and many others will be with you in spirit during this difficult holiday time.

My condolences to you. I hope that his relatively short couple of weeks in hospice were helpful to you both at such a difficult time. Thanks again for sharing some of those details with us as they were happening. So sorry for your loss.

Dear Mrs. CantChoose,

Rejoice!!! There is no better time for your husband to be with our maker than at Christmas. His pain is gone, he is at peace and celibrating the birth of Christ with all the angels and family members that have passed on before him. He is also celibrating this Christmas with you in spirit and in love. You have been your husband's rock while he was suffering here on earth and God has special blessings for you. I never knew your husband's first name but it would be nice to know it, if and when I get to meet him in the afterlife.... Stay Well, Celibrate his living and remember us. God Bless....

Dear CantChoose, I thought of you and your husband this morning and wondered how you were doing.....I had not seen this posting yet....so I looked.....oh....I am so sorry.....your post is so gracious....thanking "us"......thank you.....as tom67inMA said thank you for sharing yourand your husband's story with us. As the wife of a man with Stage 4 it is hard for me to

separate my fears and pain from yours.....which I cannot imagine.....no advice here...trying to avoid saying something stupid....rambling for that reason....virtual hugs from a stranger....

and 'sleep in heavenly peace' will have a new meaning for me from now on...tears here....

wishing you the best.
