I live in SW Ohio and am seeking recommendations for a Medical Oncologist within driving distance. I received salvage radiation this summer along with a 6 mth course of ADT. Before beginning treatment, I visited ROs and MOs at Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins for second opinions. Both ROs agreed with the plan to begin radiation and ADT. The MO at Cleveland Clinic seemed disinterested in my case. My visit to JHU occurred on the very first day of a Covid lockdown in March so the MO was unable to attend the appointment at the multidisciplinary visit. He provided a written report to the RO, but I was never able to connect with him by phone afterwards. At my recent 3mth follow up, both my PSA and testosterone were undetectable. Just to be sure I am on the right track, my RO advised that I consult with an MO about any additional treatments.
I had seen an MO, recommended by my RO and who specialized in prostate cancer, at the local hospital just prior to the start of the radiation. He prescribed the ADT (Eligard). A few months ago, he abruptly quit practice. My RO referred me to another MO at the hospital but he doesn't specialize in prostate cancer. I dont mind seeing the new MO for local care, but I want to visit an MO who is well-regarded and specializes in prostate cancer. With the departure of my original MO and no luck with the MOs I contacted in the spring, I do not know who to visit. There are no local MOs who specialize in prostate cancer so I will need to travel.
If anyone has any recommendations for an MO, I would be grateful for suggestions.

The facilitators/members of some of the Support Groups in Ohio might give you some leads as to where their participants are getting their more "local" medical oncology care & related periodic services for advanced prostate cancer. Maybe give them a call and compare notes.
Remember, too, that although you may be making a longer drive to see a high-volume regional prostate cancer Specialist for the first time, once you may get past the initial visit, a lot of the rest of your appointments in these COVID-19 days can often be done via Zoom or a related teleconference mode.
Hopefully after 2-3 years of ADT, you'll be cured. Some guys on here are experimentally augmenting their ADT. The biggest name I know in driving distance of you is Joshi Alumkal at U of Mich.
Thanks for the reply TA. My RO told me that the RT + ADT could potentially offer a cure too, which was encouraging. I'll look into Dr. Alumkal. ctarlton brought up a good point about telemedicine with a provider further away. Are there any other MOs you would recommend elsewhere in the country?
I can speak through experience regarding the Rogel cancer center within the University of Michigan health care system. My Mo is Dr. Caram. she is young, was trained by Dr. Hussein, and has a brilliant support network . My RO is Dr. Spratt. He is considered one of the best. They have been treating me for metastatic prostate cancer for nearly six years. My PSA is currently <0.1. It's easy to find the center and parking is abundant as they have a parking deck reserved for cancer treatment. Feel free to message me should you have a question. Best of luck.
