As many of you know, I have been fighting this beast for over 12 years....I'm not going to through a summary of my treatments here and now, just checking in to say I have received much valuable and educational information off these boards .which has helped me navigate these troubled waters. When the treatments stop working and your PSA gets way up there, (mine is now 5000) It's time to fold your tent and exit gracefully without bankrupting your family or putting an undue burden on them. You will know when that time has arrived..
Fight on brothers and best of luck to all of you..

Seems to me when hiking up trails we see what we think is the end in site many times before we arrive at the summit. May that summit be a long way off and may your journey be joyful.
I wish you well, Fairwind. I'm sure you know that even a ridiculously high PSA number can sometimes be just a number. The big picture of scans and the exact actual locations of mets can make a big difference in symptoms and life functioning. I hope your future day-to-day quality of life continues to remain as high as possible, for as long as possible.
(Anecdotally, I was walking around just fine over 7 years ago when I had a PSA of 5,006, undetected bone mets all over the place, and lots of lymph node mets, too. Prior to all the subsequent systemic ADT, were it not for the sudden pain from just one particular lymph node that had grown to golf ball size, and the pain in just one particular joint of my lumbar spine, I would have considered myself to have been doing pretty well. )
Thanks Fairwind ! 12 years is impressive to me . You are correct ,we will all submit when it’s our time . Live for today. Peace in the valley . 🌵
Go Bussman ! The will to live is huge in him. I’m amazing by how much some fellows can take . You included. I hope that the head has healed .. cheers throughout the New Years season .❤️💪
Amen . Shalom
Holey Toledo😳. I’m happy that closed up. Now it’s serious in the west east south and north . The entire world is brought down by a virus . It could be another year until the covid cloud is tamped down . We must dig in . Ahhh! Zometa , your favorite ! Something to not look forward too . That sucks . The world is crazy . I can only cry .But we are still here . We make lemonade .. or margaritas . Let’s just still be here when corona fades . Then there will be celebration ! 🥳🥳Until then , keep our heads down .. eyes forward .✌️❤️
Roger that Scott ... I love that Zometa yayahahahaya. Yessiree.... we’ll all dig in and ride this plague out then get on with things buddy. We got that.💪💪💪❤️❤️❤️
I have been out of HU for quite sometime and it saddens me to read this as soon as I went online. Please allow me to thank you for I have learned so much from your treatment experiences. I pray for strength and pain-free days spent with your loved ones from here on. Sending you love and light.
My husband was diagnosed 15 years ago now and it went to his bones end of 2016 and last year VA Dr, gave him 14-16 months and it’s been 19 months now. But no where near giving up yet he’s a fighter. Like 3 months ago his PSA was over 4000 and a few days ago it was 2450. He’s been doing fenbendazole and essiac tea. No other treatments available for him.
Hammer up Kaliber. Dies Your doc know why your thumb hurts? Really i mean when it stops. Some ask me why do you Doug lift weights or increase Bicep Curls?? I dont tell them because it feels better when i stop But my endorphines thank me, hmmmmmmm.
You offered so much good information to the rest of us in the past, Fairwind. Thank you for that and for letting us know where you are right now. I wish you "fair winds" to carry you in the days ahead.
covid is a fraud, 90% false positives, 98.5% recovery rate, 1.5% death rate, your chances of dying from covid in the central valley are, get this, 1 in 1820, your chances of dying in a car crash are 1 in 103, now go figure!!!And, if masks were capable of slowing the "spread" then why are the cases up, calif is the most masked up in the nation, uh?? what a ploy to take over our country by china, without a single shot fired
Your post is insensitive, dishonest and an affront to those on the front lines desperately trying to keep your neighbors alive. Thankfully those front line warriors can now receive some protection themselves in the form of a vaccine. I'm not sure why I am even responding to such a bizarre and crazy post. Who the hell is liking your posts?
Fairwinds I’m more to this group and only a few months diagnosed. You have put up a great fight and I pray for you and your family. I hope to be able to say the same thing one day.
Well said Kaliber. You've been thru h and back and still moving on. I'm impressed with your attitude with so so far advanced PCa. Your an asset to us all here..One thing my Med Onc told me yesterday about my PSA that jumped to 0.800 was that it my be nothing or could mean doubling time. So he ordered a 2nd PSA done that and waiting on results. PSA lab should be in my IU Health patient access now. Afraid to look no!
Got to realize that I am on only 250 mg of Abiraterone(Zytiga) since Sept 2019. So so I can go up in dose like 500 or 750mg.. Ok.
Why was I on so low of a dose 250 Abi was fa\or watching out for cardiovascular health. I've now been in NSR for 227 days. And love it!
My BP is not bad now either...
Oh my Med Onc also commented on my like of Exercising daily which I showed him my FITBIT and Apple Watch stats. He said twice "I proud of you Doug" "very proud of you"
I'd like to find the words to covey my feelings about the 'struggle' to manage what you've had to manage and the courage it takes to endure while facing some unknowns and imagined deadlines and insights into a fading picture of loss.
You have shared with us - I've read many of your posts.
I can only offer you a sense of peace about it all - the story of the human journey that we and our loved ones are blessed and cursed with.
May you find some peace and comfort and may you be able to say goodbye with dignity and enough time to make the best of it.
May God bless you and those around you who will share in the journey that awaits.
There are many of us who await the unknown with apprehension - you have shone a light on the struggle that so many have to face - eventually - and offered some hope that 12 years+ is still MUCH better than a quick few years and you're out .....
Thank you for your posts here and on Healing Well. Praying that whenever you start your final sail that it is smooth and accompanied by beautiful memories of those you love.
Results are in: this AM Fri. repeat PSA = 0.840n ng/mL vs Tue 0.800 ng/mL.Consistency yeh. Disturbing kind of sort of or just bite the bullet and exercise some more. No. I'll message my MO this Sunday, if or since he may not see that msg I shall call his RN too. Just call me a persistent patient patient.
I've learned that not relenting does obtain results, answers. We shall see.
PSA Sept 18th 0.485 , then Nov 17th 0.536 then Dec 15th 0.800 then Dec 18th 0.840.
Another 250mg Abiraterone added to present one, oh boy. Happy New years gift. Or all I want for Christmas is more Abi.
1. Scans scans- Nov 17th CT pelvis, abdomen, chest & NM(nuke) total body bone scan botj showed ID’d nothing, nada. Not a smidgen of activity.
2. I was DX’d with Acute DIVERTICULITIS LLQ colon, lg intestine Dec 04. CT scan proved that issue big time. I was hospitalized 4 days. IV’s of ZOYSN(piperacillion) max plus morphine, plus potassium plus saline bag drips. Two IV lines in my arms.
Uuuugh! Was dischaged 12/7 16:30 taking another week of AMOXV-Clavin (amoxicillin) 875mg horse pills.
3. If, if my Diverticulitis abominal/ pelvic pain INFECTION was still active do ya think that may have caused PSA increase? I do know or heard that UTI’s can cause Increased PSA’s.
Does anybody know about Colon/intestinal infection perforating or intereferring in Prostate Rectal Colon arena?
Intersting thoughts..
I never even thought to throw that sceanario at Dr Albany MO.
I just stopped my AMox anti-biotic at home 12/14. Then bang PSA test 12/15 0.800 and 12/18 0.840.
Worth an answer i suppose.
One more thing: I’ve got an F/U appt with my Hospital Colon Rectal surgeon consult this coming Wed 12/23 good pointed question for Him. He specializes in Cancer too, so he should know that area of my human body...
Does Diverticulitis Infection inflamation cause irritation to Prostate gland Rectal, colon area. How long does Inf last.
God bless you and your family. Twelve years sounds like a long time, but we always hope for more time. We've benefitted from your wisdom and wish you only the best.
Hi Fairwind,Sorry your PSA is so high now. Did you try Carboplatin? Hope there's something like that that you can try. I pray that if you get back in the ring, you'll kick the bastards back down! Thank you for sharing your difficult journey and the advise you gave me when I posted 2 years back. Hope you and your family have a peaceful and safe holiday. Keep us posted my friend🙏
You are a treasure trove of exceptional information Kaliber... i surely appreciate your interest and insight.
A seperate Topic Specific thread will be coming tonight or tomorrow.
TOPIC::::________________________
PCa advanced cancer with PSA levels influenced by Intestestinal Acute Diverticulitus attacks of the lower Colon Rectal area. Infection and inflamation caused by Diverticitis disease attacks.
sorry, you have it reversed, dems are reporting deaths and infections and perpetuating the lockdown destroying businesses and employment in calif, as evidenced by your leader, newsom. Republicans are a very small minority in our state gov. do some honest research, study statistics and probabilities from the same sites reporting everything... be objective in your analysis. Sorry if I offended you, take care.
Hey Kaliber. Cheer up buddy. Sounds like your road is bumpy but the car is still rolling. Thats good news. Enjoy today and focus on making the future day even better. None of us know what tomorrow will bring or how much gas is left in our tank. Just keep dodging those potholes and roll on.
You say it so beautifully; folding your tent....and in a way it is in the winderness but you have had us out there, chipping in, supporting and you have heard us.You have a querying mind, grace to listen to our 'all over the place' suggestions and gone for it.
May you have real peace and know we have valued you. Rob.
Seams that you are not afraid of death, which means you are one of the luckiest guys that had used your 12 years of PC temptation in order to develop and discover yourself as an sensed being, finding your depths and true Love, feeling that God is inside of you and all of us. It is amasing that you show such a true love to your closed ones, feeling that their well being is, in fact, your own. Despite I unfortunatelly don't know you, as well as your history that you must be described here on HU, I feel that we are all One and I feel your situation as that it is my own, which it is. In fact, it's everybodie's. Thank you for sharing your feelings with us, it is of big help to all of us, because no one can't escape that journey.
Just keep up your Love and your Soul brother and take all your evolved Consesnes and Soul experience from the childbirth till the end of materialistic life with you, to the Ethernity, where we will all be united in God in a blink of time. God bless you. All my Love to you
I first came to know of you on HealingWell. It's so good to get an update on your condition, however, I wish things were going better. Please update us from the Hospice stage, if you can, as it may do us all a great service in telling us what to expect. I was dx'ed 2015 with stage IV metastatic prostate cancer; supposedly no remission, no cure. My cancer continues to spread regardless of low PSA counts. Before succumbing to the ravages of this disease, I expect to tread this soil for many years. We salute you!
