Be alert of Secondary MDS

My father is successfully fighting prostate cancer since 3.5 yrs. His cemo (by pills) for 6 months then 40 radiations went well after testical removal. But his hemoglobin started to be low like 9 from 12. We asked doctor couple of times he just asked us to focus on PSA which is 0.01. But now my father is diagnosed with secondary MDS which is a side effect of cemo or radiation and it grows slowly also over the years like prostate cancer. Risk is high between 3 to 5 yrs after cemo or radiation. Doctor just ignored and hemotologist was unable to figure out or do bone marrow test. So our time was wasted and no early diagnosis lead us here. When his 3 cemos are done and was working fine making his blast count from 10 to 2 (20% blast means blood cancer) after 3rd cycle we are back to 10%. For bone marrow transplant it should be minimum 6 cycle n he is 68 so bmt might be risky. We are lost and sad and angry on the doctor but what else we can do. Educate others about this and just hope and keep trying. I read even high risk mds which is us now at aggressive stage things can work out and patient can survive for 5 yrs. I just really wish n pray for best. Else we easily had 10 yrs but now 5 will be good pls pray

Had MDS 4 years ago, before PC diagnosis 3 years ago. Has complicated treatments. I have excellent MO who understands both PC and MDS. If you want to compare treatment notes please let me know.

So you got MDS first and then prostate cancer. Yes definitely talking to you will be helpful.
