Hi guys. My FIL was diagnosed with PC 2yrs ago. He’s 81 now. It was picked up after a scan for a hip replacement. It had already matastised into his hip. Then was found in his shoulder too. Since then he’s had ADT and when that stopped working then he was on a trial drug (can’t remember the name). He was to start chemo 2wks ago but an X-ray for his shoulder pain showed a spot on his lung and kidney which halted the chemo and he had a scan which showed that the cancer in the lung is aggressive so that has to be there focus right now.
As this mans DIL I am extremely close to him, love him like my father but he’s old school and doesn’t always give us or remember what has been said so my knowledge of treatment and going forward is limited.
He is in a lot of pain from the shoulder and he’s revelry had an op to help him urinate as the bladder was emptying properly. He still uses a catheter at night but thankful not during the day.
Personally although all of that sounds horrendous he still looks fit and healthy and is of sound mind I don’t think he’s got long, certainly no longer than 6mths.
What can we do to make him more comfortable? What are your thoughts on CBD oil? Turmeric and such for pain relief and help with being permanently constipated because of the codeine. Any help or support would be so appreciated.

Well, as far as the constipation issue goes here's what I've found helpful -- prune juice. I take a few ounces with breakfast and a few ounces at dinner. Of course it also helps to be hydrated. Older people are known to have issues drinking enough water.
I too do not enjoy water (most of my life)............ I drink some coffee, lots of orange juice and 1 can of diet soda.... Prune juice for his constipation and whole pitted sunsweet prunes (3-4 a day)....
