You can get it done free under a clinical trial by Royal Marsden under Prof Ros Eeles. They post a kit to you. The results take about a year to come back, however. Mine showed a risk below average, with no genetic basis for PCa. I'm just lucky. As was my father. And my brother...

The BARCODE-1 was a pilot study and is no longer recruiting. It is due to report in 2021. Maybe there will be a larger study.

Do a search of our HU database for the words "Genetic testing" and you will get many many hits. Rumage through the hits for any that seem applicable for your needs.

Hi Hillwalker87,

If you are going to pay for a genetic test then your Oncologist should be able to arrange it for you. I would recommend researching “Foundation Cdx” tests as that company seem to be approved by the FDA in the US. Ask to make sure that the test is a full test, not just looking for Faulty DNA repair genes i.e BRCA1/2 etc. it should also check for MSI HIGH, dMMR and now TMB high. Look for POLE and POLD1 mutations in your report. Most of the above are rare in prostate cancer, all combined perhaps 15%. But if any of these are indicated you may have precision treatments available to you.
