Do any of you have any experience with arthritis in your hands as side effect of bicultamide or eligard, which I've been on for 5 months and began experiencing pain in fingers and palm of hand. Can't make a fist anymore. Any advice on how to lessen the condition? Thanks so much for any insight!

Arthritis in hands side effect
One MO I consulted told me that the pain in several of my joints was my osteoarthritis made worse by ADT and anti androgens. I continue to have these multiple joint pains. They got significantly worse when I started to take one of the new anti androgens. If you could take NSAIDs, naproxen, celebrex etc. it could help. Watch your blood pressure and renal function when taken these drugs.
For arthritic pain you might consider trying Arnica cream.
My family has used Arnica for over a hundred years.
My grandfather first used it to help with bruising when he was boxing in the British army prior to World War 1.
Many of the commercial arthritis creams here in Australia list Arnica in their ingredients.
Best wishes
Dave
Thanks Dave!
I looked into this.... do you use tablets or cream.

I use a cream.
Arnica cream feels like it's not working when you rub it in.
It doesn't get warm or cold, and there's no instant pain relief.
I often tell friends to rub it on twice a day and keep going for a whole week even if they think it's not helping.
After they've being using it for a week they often say it's really helped, but it takes time to work.
I only use it occasionally myself when my fingers ache. After a few days I often forget to rub it in because my fingers have stopped aching.
I’ll look some more.... looks very affordable so not a big risk there!!!
I have osteopenia . Now on prolia . All due to treatments . over five years of adt
I'm on bicultamide with hot flushes as a side effect. No arthritis, thankfully!
Try researching on this web site. I find it invaluable:

Lucky bastard🤪😂😜!!! Just watch the internet.... lots of snake oils out there!!!!
I'm well aware of the hazards of "snake oil" merchants, one of the many reasons I distance myself from any/all politicians who do listen to them and people with closed minds who go along with politicians😷! See my caveat below.
The web site I suggested is an American government site. One where peer reviewed studies are posted. I know that sounds like a contradiction to my previous statement however, if something has been peer reviewed I will willingly investigate further. Cynicism can only go so far. Pubmed is hardly a realm frequented by quacks and charlatans.
Will do. Thanks Patrick!
For me ,I had inherited some arthritis and bone issues from my mom but it’s all quadrupled with rt and adt . This is a geriatric disease . I think the aging process sped up ten fold on me since dx . I’ve had shooting electrical pains all over my body everything from a ice pick to needles randomly running over me . It’s improved much but still present . I attribute it to over use of antibiotics plus adt and radiation therapy .
I can only tell you my story...... Shortly after starting ADT (6mo’s +/-) I got terrible pain in my left hip. Got it checked......arthritis ( all of a sudden?!!). As time went on, the pain would move from joint to joint and whatever I got checked...... arthritis!!!! At the worst, every major joint on my left side only was killing me!!!! I believe it was excess inflammation because I took some left over anti-inflammatory / gout meds on my own and it cleared up in a short time. PcP would not renew Rx for liver concerns so, pains returned and my misery lingers!! My gym closing didn’t help either!!!!

I’m hop Jimhoy. I’ve got a disintegrating hip now many joints on my latest scans. I stated bone nutrients and prolia 18 months ago and my pain is lessened. But the scans show worsening. All part of the game.
Here are the latest studies regarding Androgen Deprivation Therapy:
I started getting arthritis symptoms in the joints of my left hand shortly after starting ADT. It has gotten worse over the last two years to the point that I can't make a fist anymore. It is not as bad in my right hand. My MO says it is difficult to tell how much of this is from the ADT and how much is just natural aging. At this point Advil works when it gets painful.
I, have been on Firmagon and Casodex for 6 years and holding steady psa at 0.03 . Now Osteopenia to boot from the meds, and on Prolia as a result .
Everyday I awaken is an adventure as to what the daily aches and pains will consist of and where. I EXERCISE a lot which seems to keep the ATD related aches and pains at a tolerable level. Not fun to deal with, but we shall keep on fighting the beast with the hope that it will one day be eradicated from humanity
Hi tdelpozz
In my case, I had very sore arthritis on my left wrist after Chemo plus on Lucrin in 2018. Whilst I was chatting with my oncologist and he was about to prescribe pain killers, a Senior Specialist, who happened to pass-by, overheard our conversation and gave me the simple formula to help alleviate the pain: every couple of hours dipped the wrist in cold water filled with epsom salt. The tricked worked after a couple of weeks. And the wrist is as good as new.
But then again, every body reacts differently and perhaps mine was not so severe, but just to share. So listen to the good advice shared here by other brothers and work with your oncologist.
My best to you ❤️

I've had arthritis and tendon problems in my hands for many years going back before diagnosis in 2009. Its old age. Its also because I have worked with my hands to make a living for most of my life as a builder, then electronics tech.
I don't think ADT has made Arthur Rightis any worse.
Cold mornings and long bike rides also don't help much. But I can still do things OK, and its no use complaining.

I have this side effect from Lupron....I became more used to it and becomes more bearable throughout the day...but it does start over everyday...keep taking calcium and high doses of vitamin D
I too have some of the symptoms mentioned here from Eligard/Erleada and Prolia. I’m also 65 years old and have a hard time deciding what’s causing these nuisance pains. The one good thing is they come and go and have never been unbearable. I keep rooting for the old man pains. I’m also maintaining a PSA of 0.01 and Testosterone of 0.0396. I really appreciate the information that I receive from this site.
I’ve had finger lock up as well as the arthritis issues, I take Celebrex as as Ostio biflex. Still there in the morning but less during the day.
If you live in a place that cannabis is legal get your card and by the strongest cbd cream made out of indica not hemp it works like a charm
Firmagon and Lupron. Awful experience. Yes, bilateral joint pain. Including locked trigger (ring) finger. Symptoms appeared suddenly. Lasted 6-8 wks. Disappeared just as quickly. I used NSAID meds. And CBD cream. Seemed to help.
Good luck to you.

Yes - definitely an inconvenient SE for some of us. Had to give up guitar all together. Good news is that it can resolve completely when you are off ADT, but mine comes back at less intensity when ADT restarts. NSAID cream did not work for me, but pain and condition does mitigate during the day, especially if you can get blood circulating with vigorous exercise. Good luck finding some relief!
I would be curious to hear if those using estrogen patches to help with ADT symptoms or as a form of ADT have noticed an improvement in joints. The connection between low estrogen (often due to aromatase inhibitor meds) and joint pain/arthritis has been observed in women, but not really looked at in men. Since estrogen plays a central role in bone and collagen matenance and is decreased with ADT like Eliguard, I am guessing this part of the reason arthritis gets worse with ADT.
The very common condition of multiple joint osteoarthritis which is described here by several is a problem not just because of the joint pain and stiffness, which can be very challenging as it is for you and others here. But also because it keeps the body in a constant state of inflammatory and immune activation which is detrimental throughout the body in complex ways. Certain anti-inflammatory agents both pharmaceutical and natural are helpful to down regulate the inflammation without raising the risk of infections. Two drugs that are strong anti-inflammatories that have also been linked to beneficial effects on prostate cancer are celecoxib and aspirin. Must be very careful with GI effects including bleeding with aspirin. Enteric coated is preferable. Celecoxib is safer in this regard. I take 400 mg daily plus an enteric aspirin.
A lab test indicator for overall inflammatory status that is readily available is C-Reactive protein or CRP.
Good luck and embrace your one precious life every day.
