Xtandi failed suggested Zytiga

I posted the other day that the Xtandi did not work and my one oncologist suggested we give Zytiga a shot even though she said the chances of it working were 20 to 30%. She also sent me to a Radiation oncologist who reviewed my case about using target radiation therapy. He told me that the radiation would be an option but there are to numerous lesions in my pelvis. He then stated he would consider using radium. He thought the radium would be a better option because it would hit all the spots. He also mentioned that there is a trial I could possibly get into using the radium and parp. He did not go into details about this until he consults with other Oncologists. My urologist called me and stated that the radium was waste of time and I should do the Zytiga because he felt if worked I would have better results. Can anyone give some input if the radium treatments are a waste of time as he put it? Had Dna tested and no gene issues other than was told two genes were linked but said this a known issue with prostate cancer. Getting more confused as I speak to my Doctors. Waiting to hear from my 2 oncologists about what was recommended. Can anyone advise if the radium has worked for them or is my Urologist is correct. Thanks

Why are you even talking to a urologist now? Xofigo takes 6 months. Any reason you haven't done Taxotere? Maybe talk to your oncologist about duplicating this study:

The urologist called me to check on what was happening not consulting him for advice. the oncologists had told me they wanted hold off on the chemo as much as they could .So that is why I was asking does the Xofigo work from all of your knowledge.

I think Xofigo combined with that lowered dose docetaxel seems to work well and seems to be less toxic.

I would think your Oncologist would be recommending Docetaxel chemotherapy at this point rather than switching anti-androgens since that generally doesn't work for long if it works at all.

The recent CARD trial showed a significant improvement in PFS with Cabazitaxel instead of switching anti-androgens after one fails.

8 months Vs. 3.7 months progression-free survival for Cabazitaxel Vs. Xtandi or Zytiga after having taken the other.

I am currently on the radium (xofigo) protocol. I've had 4 of the 6 monthly infusions with no real side effects.

If you have multiple bone lesions I would think zofigo is what you should be looking at. I would start the zytiga hopefully to start a reversal of the spread of Pca and start the zofigo protocol.

Hi Magnus...didnt know you were on xofigo...was it due to progression and as a therapy for bone lesions and pain?

I already had External beam radiation on a spot on my Ischium. My research doctor found some activity on same spot so zofigo was the only option.

Thanks, it's been a long journey. But in many ways I am grateful. Cancer has taught me to appreciate life.

I have lesions in my pelvis primarily on the ischium as you do. Just trying find out if this a treatment that works.

I can't answer that yet. Sorry. Are the lesions in the bones or soft tissue, and have you had external beam radiation to that area? These are the questions that need to be addressed.
