FDA detained meds that are not mine

I got a letter from the FDA saying that they detained a shipment of medicine to us. Except we didn’t order anything - I happen to recognize the name of the medicine but I have no idea why there was a package sent and addressed to us. Should I respond to the FDA letter?

Personally I don’t really want to get involved with the FDA. At the same time, I don’t want to get charged for storage & destruction, which may mean I will have to deal with the FDA later on.

Many thanks

Be sure the letter is from the FDA and not a scam. The next letter could say pay a fine and you end up sending money to scammers.

It’s being set up for an extortion scam. Absolutely do not respond to the letter ....Google “ fda letter scam “ for more info. Warnings about those letters all over the web.

No, the FDA is a government regulation authority. Usually it's the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) that enforces drug distribution violations.

Contact the FDA (fda.gov/home), make sure the link is, fda.gov, get a contact number and report the letter.

I'm with Magnus1964.

When something incoming is seized, you would receive a letter from U.S. Customs & Border control letting you know that they have seized your package.

So, this was an overseas shipment, please tell us more? It's very nice that U.S. Customs & Border control would send a letter, interesting...

Thanks, everyone. All the messages have been helpful.

The start of the letter says “A mail shipment addresses to you from a foreign country is being held by the post office at the request of the US FDA.”

The header of this letter says:

US DEA

Division of West Coast Imports

Notice of FDA Action

Hard for me to say if this letter is legit or not

Just got another thought.

What if it’s an internet pharmacy that sent us medicine by accident (that we did not order), and it got detained by the FDA?

So maybe the package is real and the letter is real even though we were not expecting anything?

Could be . Don’t sweat it . As long it not heroin ?

Once again your letter is a scam letter. Notices about Intercepted incoming drug shipments are sent to you by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. Not from the FDA. Its a warning form letter. I have received a couple myself .... the letters always say they intercepted / interdicted the shipment, and don’t do it again or trouble might result next time.

If it was a real shipment of illegal controlled drugs, Marshals service and or Customs delivers it in person and when you sign for it or simply receive the shipment.... they jump out of the weeds and arrest you.

Do not contact those people back under any circumstances. Its all wrong .

Peace brother ✌️✌️

The fda.gov site says the FDA does not send out letters to people that buy drugs online ....

Search the site for the release named : “ the FDA warns of imposters sending consumers fake warning letters “.

Also .... if you do actually have a naughty package being held “ for pickup “ at the post office ... ( and you will know if you do or not ) absolutely forgetta boutit . Leave it there to rot and learn your lesson. Under no circumstances go there to pick it up. If you do, the post office will stall you briefly ( wait we’ll go locate it in the back ) until the cops show up and arrest you.

Not say’in you have .... but ...if you have been naughty, stop doing that. With modern tech scan equipment and database technology, very little slips by unnoticed. That plus now “ you “ are in the database and everything you buy online or through the mail will be flagged for perpetuity.

Disclaimer: of course I don’t know anything about this stuff personally but I’ve heard rumors and am well read on the web... yayahahahaya yayahahahaya.😂😂😂

If by naughty you mean viagra or cialis knock-offs it's no problem. I've been sourcing those meds from India for years now although GoodRx has very competitive deals for those now that you can get at your local Costco. The post office doesn't seem to care about these type of meds coming in from India. I've even had one arrive at my house with a Customs and Border Control inspection sticker on it. The other naughty drugs I use I get at my friendly local medical marijuana dispensary. I'm proud that I voted in favor of that years before my cancer diagnosis and it was a close victory that enabled that.

Absolutely do not respond. In addition to most of the above notice the poor grammar in the letter. “A mail shipment addresses to you ..." instead of addressed to you. Sure sign of a scam. Burn, shred, bury, or otherwise destroy the letter.
