A good message (since most of mine are worrisome!)

I was looking at my profile and every one of my posts starts with “should I be worried?” Or “I’m worried!”

I often tell my dad that forums like these, while wonderful and invaluable, are a lot like the hospital. You see people in their worst condition and most pain. You see the research also, thank God... and that gives you hope. But you also see the ER corridors and that’s downright scary!

So in lieu of that I’d like to share what’s going on in the day-to-day with my sweet daddy.

Yesterday he took me for a summer drive in his toy corvette. We had a blast, hair blowing and belly laughing. These are the beautiful days of my life! (And proof that I don’t spend every day worrying!😂😂)

That's great to see! Looks like you are really appreciating the moment, which is all we have really. One thing that many of us have discovered here is how to live in the "now". That's where the happiness is. The future is theoretical, something that none of us have really. This was one of the first lessons I learned after my diagnosis.

I remember during one of my first doctors appointments, I went through everything I thought was going to happen to me. I went through every treatment I knew about and what I would do after each one failed. Eventually, I got to the point where there was no more treatments and I was in hospice. The whole thing got me into tears. I remember thinking to myself: I learned something today.

Hope you continue to enjoy each moment you have with your dad. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Absolutely! We love more and value our time more since his diagnosis. Every second is precious and we try to treat it that way! ❤️

Right on. After my diagnosis, I had to learn to stop worrying and start living. There is no time to waste, no time for regrets or excuses.

Whelp. We were in it in the picture I shared! 😂 if I could figure out how to post a picture of it in the comments, I would!

My dad told me that it was this morning when I called to check on him and mom! He was telling me yesterday about all the Corvettes he had over the years. He had a 56, 64 and a 74. After he married my mom and had four daughters he traded the Corvette in for a minivan and dad life. He always said the trade-in was worth it but now that us girls are on our own with our own families, he’s able to get back into the corvette business! This time he has a red 94 stingray. 😊

The definition of selfless: Trading a Corvette for a minivan.

A great lesson for everyone to stay in the present and take things as they come - including the joys in life.

Theres a dated book to read....Anatomy of an Illness by Norman Cousins. Its a hopeful true story that I found uplifting. It blends a natural therapy with humor and no stress.

My favorite times with my husband are when we are in between treatments and/or scans/blood work. We are in limbo and do not know if what we are doing is working or not. We concentrate on everything but prostate cancer. It is refreshing to worry about normal things like a leaking faucet or tall grass. Who knew? Thanks for the great post!

You my friend have the correct medicine, out of all the info you can glean from these multiple forums of advice, I think enjoying yourself without worrying about things is the best. It's a waste to worry about stuff ot of your control. Im not saying to throw caution to the wind or to negate your concern, but we do ourselves a disservice when worrying.

Enjoy life fulfilling the bucket list. I always wanted a classic BMW540i so at around my diognoses I went on the internet and now she sits in my driveway. It's not a convertible but the plush leather seats make the driving so much more enjoyable. Never give up never surrender. Leo
