Any ideas why.............?

All, My PSA when on ADT is usually at 0.09. It never deviates more than a hundredth.

In December my PSA went up to 0.19 and at that time I received yet another ADT shot.

Okay, so maybe I'm now castrate resistant???

Fast forward to yesterday (35 days later), PSA dropped ever so slightly to 0.17.

I'll say it again, while on ADT, my PSA never deviated by more than 0.01 or so.

So, I'm curious why would my PSA sudenly act like this, double and then remain relatively steady. If I'm CR, then it should continue to go up. My thoughts are that the hospital had either re-calibrated the equipment or purchased a new testing device. And both of these ideas could explain this.

Did they test “T” levels? Are you still and did you remained castrated through there PSA tests?

Castration resistance is a relative term (not binary). The cancer may be more active some times than others. You should ignore anything beyond the first decimal.

The increase could be caused by an infection or inflammation in the prostate area. Watch your next few PSA scores. If it continues to rise then it may be time to switch to an other ADT drug, i.e. zytiga, casodex or xtandi.

Your still considered Undetectable from those numbers and many factors can contribute to small fluctuations in PSA as others mentioned, they usually look for a doubling of PSA over the course of 3 months before considered crPC and "T" level is equally important if it's on the rise.

And the answer is, the lab changed machines that read the PSA levels.

My new low is approx 0.17.

F'rs could have told me this at time of test, got to wait a month worried.
