Uti and back and side pain

This is the third time uti infection every 20-30 days its coming back with severe side and lower back pain. All the tests seems normal just uti. Doctor has asked to avoid travelling out of city but still my father travels. Is this the cause or any other sign of cancer spreading to bones? But why the tests are coming normal in that case?

Ah okay, thanks

Is he self cathing ? Why the uti’s? Constant antibiotics and uti’s will wear him down. I as in that condition for way too long. I pray that he can find a fix soon 🙏

No he is not. Usually he gets severe pain at right side along with lower back pain. But everything is coming normal in mri, ct scans. Not sure why that pain comes

That’s a terrible place to be. I accredit a year with constant uti s and antibiotics with speeding up joint issues and neuropathy.......I pray for an end of the Utis for him.. Good job being his advocate..... The dreaded uti is the scourge of urology . 🙏

So did you manage to fix your uti problem or its still ongoing even after 1 year? Yes it started with leg swelling which is OK now and then high BP which is controlled now but now reoccurring utis

in reply toKshiprakapoor

My uti’s were from foley bi lateral tubes and or stints. RT and adt shrank they tumors allowing me to pee again. That was a blessed day.....

Ah great, but surprisingly he has undergone his RT 2 yrs back, then not sure why utis are reoccurring, need to take precautions then should be OK i believe

How is the UTI diagnosed? I wonder because you said all tests are normal.

It showing in urine test

Needs Urine Culture and sensitivity testing....if it shows a certain type of bacteria..such as E Coli, Klebsiella, Proteus or Chlamydia ….that bacteria needs to attacked by the antibiotic which shows sensitivity in the urine testing.

A full course of appropriate antibiotic is absolutely needed. Then, comes the prevention part..(1) Should take sugar free craneberry juice and D Mannose daily (2) Immune boosting diet (avoid junk food) lots of veggies and fruits plus plenty of water daily.

With these measures ,my UTIs went away and I am UTI free for 5 months now.

Thank you will try these

Shipra, its not a big problem if the doctor knows how to eradicate responsible bacteria properly and fully. All UTIs are curable.

I agree just that we are unable to figure out why his right side next to stomach has severe pain always when he catches uti. Kidney test has been done and is normal too

in reply toKshiprakapoor

That’s good!

Shipra,

The reason of right side abd pain is "bladder spasms" When someone has severe UTI, his bladder lining gets inflamed and cause swelling and pain. So when the bladder contract for urine expulsion. the spasm occurs and cause this pain. Once UTI is eradicated, bladder spasms go away and pain goes away as a result.

This type of pain has nothing to do with kidneys.

Ah thank you very much for the explanation really appreciate it.

I had chronic uti for several years. Urologist found and removed tiny stone from kidney and the problem went away. Seems the stone

Was creating and releasing bacteria into uretha. Stone was so small it had been missed on earlier scans.

In the absence of catheters or other instrumentation of the urinary tract the repeated UTIs in a male call for further evaluation to find a contributing cause. This used to be done with IVP (intravenous pyelogram with voiding cycstogram) to visualize all of the urinary tract from kidneys to urether. This may be supplanted by IV contrast CT that is excreted in the urine these days. Kidney stone for example as johnscats/ Mkeman indicate, or some small fistula from prior radiation, etc. These conditions can generally be diagnosed and corrected by the urologist.

Good. Just have a urologist involved so the scan and any other tests are appropriately targeted. Best of fortune to you.

Yeah thanks for the suggestion seems urologist involment is necessary as tests are not catching anything
