Well I have a update, this last month has been a flurry of procedures and tests and raw emotions, Since my most recent diagnosis of A L3 lesion was a game changer for me I felt like I really became a member of the fraternity of cancer crusaders. Let's start with that L3 bone biopsy. I appreciate everyone's input from my last post in regards to there opinions and personal experiences, ALthough my experience was quite different it was extremely painful the absolute worst in my 58 yrs. There is a reason why, which should be a cautionary tale for all who follow. Make sure you have the right sedative, versed did not work for me. The specialist forged on despite my very loud and demonstrative outburst. Oh well it's in my rear view mirror. Still awaiting results. I did a MRI and pet scan and another CT. I am happy to say the only visable lesion Is L3 and will have SBRT on dec 9th. I just started xtandi 3 days ago and tolerating well with exception of a headache, hopefully unrelated. I was just briefed on SBRT and it seems pretty straight forward, risks vs reward seems to balance out, 3 sessions every other day. The last PSA has doubled from two weeks previously to 3.9 now maybe double that, Xtandi and lupron should handle that, I keep hearing from these docs how different my APC is. I really appreciate everyone's insight and shared experiences it helps a lot. Although sometimes I feel like some of you are a lot further ahead of the curve with your elite health care and intricate knowledge of the latest and greatest meds. I suggest some things I have learned from some of you which i have faith In and it's like i am speaking mandarin to my oncologist and shes from india. They seem to have a box where they have their traditional and conservative approaches in.i know I will die at some point, I just want to know at the end of days I did, and said, and prodded enough to receive the best treatment available.

It sounds like you are getting cutting edge care, except for the anesthesia. When something is called the "standard of care" it means that results usually exceed whatever was used previously, and researchers have gotten much better at separating true from spurious results. Let us know what the biopsy shows.

Ok thankyou , I will update on biopsy . And I appreciate you more than you know. I am very grateful of my care, just sometimes I hear about clinical cutting edge shiny stuff and wonder. But the grass may not be greener.

The problem with the internet is one sees all kinds of wacky shit. "Out of the box" therapies are most often based on very limited and simplistic understanding of biochemistry, and may do more harm than good. There is a big difference between a hypothesis and scientific proof- we've come a long way since the 16th century when the scientific method was invented.

I think we should understand the box in which the medical practitioner is placed. If they try something that is not 'standard of care' then they can be subject to legal problems in case something goes wrong and the patient refuses to take the blame. Moreover, they risk losing their licenses to practice if proven that they were experimenting. They can listen and nod their heads but not prescribe something that is 'standard of care'.

I understand what you're saying although I am not searching for some magic experimental potion. In a perfect world, just eliminate the politics,and rather or not this treatment or that treatment will be approved by insurance or that a doctor has to walk a fine line for fear of lawsuits. Make it only about the absolute best care and life extension. And I believe they do there very best in this imperfect world.
