If it isn't big enough to biopsy (which is likely), hormone therapy will make it shrink if it is a metastasis, but not if it is a benign lesion. If you use hormone therapy to diagnose it, you can still get it zapped afterwards if you want to. If it is a metastasis, hormone therapy will also slow down systemic progression.

2007 had biopsy found trace of cancer in prostate. May first 2008 had robotic removal. my psa was never .000 it was between 0.03 and 0.14 for the past 11 years. Last year all of that changed it started to rise slowly. They wanted me to have radiation to the prostate bed and i wanted more info. I have been very lucky no incontinence or erection problems what so ever. The axumin pet scan is a great test for hunting down prostate cancer that was left behind. Look it up if you have not already its fluciclovine f-18 injection. the test takes about 45 mins. I hope this helps out this is a great learnig tool for all of us. take care

12 years post RP, plus radiation. PSA doubling time went from 14 months to 5 months. Next week Pet Scan, and meet with MO. 6 months Lupron is being suggested depending on scan. May employ Cyber Knife depending on results.

Would definitely get it biopsied if possible and get second opinion on MRI to be sure radiologists agree on diagnosis. I had a lesion identified using Axumin and MRI follow-up. There was disagreement on the diagnosis. Finally got agreement that is was PCa. I had radiation treatment and then found out radiologists were still questioning it. This was very frustrating and leaves you feeling like you don't know what is the real truth. I suggest spending the time to be sure there is agreement. You my need to send it to a research hospital that has had the Axumin for a while....not Mayo clinic. There are not experienced or skilled enough.

As had been said elsewhere, you will also need to go onto a strong ADT therapy. I am on Zytiga.

Good luck!

Thank you for that information. They are all putting their thoughts together on Thursday at carbone cancer center . What are the side effects of zitiga? I know that none of this stuff is good for our body's it's just a temporary band aid . It really sucks after eleven and a half years of feeling great and now this. Thanks again.

I know how hard it is to be told that your disease is progressing but it's better to catch it early at every step of the way. You are fortunate for the eleven years, I had two years and they included the prostatectomy, chemo and Lupron. BR was after 7 months. After the Axumin, I started on Zytiga and Xgeva.

We are all different in our response to therapy in how long we remain stable in our current condition. Zytiga has many potential side effects that you can look up online. I have been fortunate in not having many other than fatigue and gaining some weight. It has been very effective and I am hoping its effectiveness will last a while. Unchecked, my PSADT is less than two months.

I agree that it all sucks! I can only allow myself to focus on the here and now. Anticipation and worrying only causes high anxiety and losing enjoyment of the moment I am in right now.

Good luck.

Good morning P.C. Brothers. Just wondering how many out here have had lupron and bicalumide for over five years? I just had my Fifth shot yesterday my PSA is still at bay 0.02 down from 0.03 three months ago. My OC says I’ll be on this treatment for quite some time to come. I feel good a few hot flashes but doable. Thanks for your input.
