Yes, I have just started to add it to my other drugs and supplements to help me get a good night's sleep. It does work well.

Running-on-empty profile image

I take it as well . CBD 3x perday to help with back pain and THC at night to help me sleep. Works well and I plan to continue as long as I live . Cost approximately 150.00 per month in Ontario Canada. Through a medical provider. And NO I did not tell my Oncologist.

Have you heard of Rick Simpson?

Best to make your own if you have a source or a friend to give you trim .

I consulted with a Dr. specialized in pain control about using CBD and HTC for pain caused by a peripheral neuropathy. His recommendation was to use CBD oil at a dose of 25 to 50 mg of CBD twice a day. To improve sleep he suggested to try 1 to 1 CBD and THC starting at a dose of 3 mg of THC when going to bed.

The CBD at 25 mg twice a day helped to control the neuropathic pain. Some people may need to add a low dose of THC to the CBD to get a better control of the pain.

in reply to tango65

I have a friend who has neuropathy from diabetes and he's found that 1:1 ratio works the best for him. He says it works better than anything else and the only problem is that it doesn't last long

HAs anyone who does use CBD oil with THC told their oncologist, and if so how do the doctors feel about it?

Does it interfere with Lupron or Zometa?

Hello daggerwing, I am on eligard (lupron), zytiga, and prednisone. My MO is fine that I take CBD oil daily for calming effects and medical marijuana, when needed, for pain and on rare occasion for sleeping. The CBD oil is administered sublingually and the marijuana in resin form. (I was using a vape [ecig] and this relieved the pain within a minute. Resin seems to me to be better than inhaling hot smoke/steam. It longer to relieve my pain but the relief lasts longer.) In addition to my ADT, I exercise daily, eat sensibly, try to maintain an aggressively positive attitude, and try to get the rest I need but this can be difficult to do.

I like the 'aggressively positive attitude' phrase, right up there with 'flaming heterosexual'. I do CBD for sleep.

in reply to daggerwing

I told my docs through RT and adt . They all say it is fine for me ... no drug conflict ..

Try CBD oil, you might like it. Way back in the beginning my better half tried it but it did not help much. I tried it for sleeping and wow it helped but it was so EXPENSIVE.. so I just use l-theanine and melatonin - I can get them both for a decent price from Swanson. My husband uses steam ozone saunas and pemf for pain.(not sure how big of a factor the ozone is ) The Pemf device we use is from SOTA instruments and it is one of the best prices on one and it is a quality product. I also have an earth pulse(PEMF) and have been through several failed controllers on it in less than 2 years. The SOTA Magnetic Pulser has been going strong without any problems.

I think my husband should try the CBD oil again for his neuropathic pain. (I think legally we are supposed to call it hemp oil.. but I still think of it as CBD)

If you want to try some other remedies for pain. Our Integrative doctor gave my son some homeopathic remedies that are helping him with joint pain.. he takes 20 drops each of Guna IL10, Guna-FLAM, Guna ANTI IL 1,(total 60 drops) in a glass of water. Two times a day. Not earth shattering but he says it helps.

Sending you hugs and prayers! I hope that you find something to help with the pain. Hurting is not fun.

Hi Guys, Well, a friend (who knew my situation asked me was I interested in Cannabis oil ( I said maybe) he then gave me his girlfriends, friends number. Yeah whew!!

I called and after a brief conversation about him and his history with cancer; 18 stems and 3 different cancers, lung, liver and something else... sorry cannot remember.

Anyway he said he would deliver some to me :)) A day or so later he calls and said he was in my Street and couldn't find my flat number ;( then I said are you on .... Sreet, yes he said! I said I am near the BP gas station hmm... any way he was in a city 5 hrs south of me :((((

He called the next day and said his partner was coming to my city the next week and she would bring it and drop it off. I said great :)) All went as promised and no payment was needed, how wonderful was that and how kind.

I took some the next day it was in Olive Oil so I dipped my favorite bread in it, bit like the old Hovis bread from the UK. I think I used too much dip as it made the tiles in the back yard look like something from the XFiles, they just went all like rising jelly :)))(((.

I think I took wayyyy too much. Felt wobbly/dizzy. I did drive I think to collect my daughter and then my wife.. but my wife drove home.. and yes I did lie down and slept well :)))). Tried it again with a lesser dose and now I can see how much I should use. I have a 750 ml bottle, how long will it last??

What was interesting my kind-hearted supplier acclaimed it cured... CURED all of his cancer.... not sure how much he is taking.

Sorry to bore with the whole story.. but it's kind of interesting/funny... or not :)

Alan

Hello, All:

I am lucky to live in California where cannibas is legal. My oncologist has authorized me for medical marijuana.

Currently, I am taking 0.5 ml of CBD twice a day. It has really helped with the nausea, and helps with my sleep. It is not very noticeable - CBD does not get you high. Give it a chance to “settle in”. It took about a week for me.

Now, I DO sleep better. The CBD is relaxing, and when I relax I sleep well.

Every person is different, I know that. Speaking for myself, CBD Oil is a welcome part of my treatment.

THC taken rectally produces very little to no "high". Both THC and CBD can be taken rectally. Far less need be taken as the absorption is far more efficient and consistent.

My Oncologist just approved all the phases for CBD, THC, medical marijuana. The process here in New Jersey where it's legal is a bit lengthy but from what I have heard from others is worth it. The dispensaries here sell only the best quality products and my Doctor has forwarded a prescription as to what he thinks would be beneficial to my condition. Waiting for things to clear legal wise should be any day. Never give up never surrender. Leo

Hey leo from nj too curious what strains recommended for what bc my dad is going on but his doctor did not advise him as to which strains etc.

leo2634 in reply to Daddyishealing

Hi I don't know yet still waiting to be cleared by the state. I just started the process and won't know until I get cleared. My Oncologist knows what condition I'm most bothered by so they contact the distribution site once I'm ready for prescription. Then from what I'm told I will be processed and given choices of products to use.

I used to be a mm patient. In 2015 we did not have as many dispensaries. I will check for the name but i think the consultant was tom at garfen state dispensary. They are very professional, awingly compassionate. The guy i first had was a brilliant man and ill check if he is still there he goes over the strains and advises and knows as much as any botanist. The background of some working there included former us spy, and retired cop

..i asked them why. They both told me...because we know how many people are getting helped. You have nothing to lose. I will warn you we have the highest mm program in the country and it is very expensive, but the quality as gsd was also very high and pure.

Still haven't tried anything yet I've been approved, have my card but prescription doesn't start until 9/21 . I'm not in any real hurry to start thank God ,I'm not in any significant pain just need it more for panic attacks and just not coping well with situations like I used to. My M O is the one that recommended it to me.

in reply to Daddyishealing

I would recommend two websites for exploring the best strains and where to get them. Explore strains of Cannabis at: leafly.com

Find out where to get them at: weedmaps.com

These two websites should get you started.

We aren’t using chemo though I’m interested in it’s help with pain. What form and ratio did you use? Also in legal states inquiry into strains can help in choosing what to purchase.

‘Times they are a changin’. Yes docs know. This thread would have had problems some time ago. This is the first we are attempting to use it for pain.

I read a study coming out of the Netherlands where they do trials using cannabis. I’ve attempted to find the link again and have had trouble. I did print it out though. It was a study on cannabis that said it could extend opioid time. Has anyone experienced this?

We’ve used suppositories for at least 6 years for sleep and hopefully what other benefits it might have. We used a 4:1 cbd to thc ratio.

We bought 2 tinctures recently for pain. 20-1 and 18-1. Also a vape with a 20-1 cartridge. I will report back.

Thanks for all the comments. It’s so helpful. One of our docs inquired about using it for pain. I believe they are hearing from their patients.

Also, we were using zolodex at the same time as suppositories and had a 50% reduction in tumors in the prostate as measured by a sonogram color doppler. We attribute the reduction mostly to zolodex, so to answer efficiency of meds wasn’t impeded for us.

I used it morning and night during eight weeks of radiation. Seemed to be helpful. Continued for several months after and not using now at nine months post treatment

Yes, my Dad added it a few months ago and he says it has made a world of difference for him for sleeping. He used to have multiple sleepless night per week. Now he has maybe 1-2 in a month. He uses the "DeFlame" blend from Ananda Apothecary anandacbdoils.com/product/d...

Best wishes to you!!

Anxiety can be contagious . You will find ways to help ..

in reply to daggerwing

There are good cannabis strains for stress too.

I also was very interested in finding out about using CBD oil. I started using a low dose tincture with <0.3% THC, made by Lazarus, under the tongue.

I had asked both my Oncologist and PCP before starting; both said they didn't know much about it, but had no objections.

One week later I found that CBD may negatively interact with certain medications, same as those that warn of grapefruit juice making the meds less effective. I stopped using the tincture, and switched to a topical instead.

Generally, Indica=CBD, Sativa=THC. Both have pain killing properties. CBD is great for a good night's sleep. It has been reported that cannabis can cause cancer to kill itself. IT IS NOT A CURE, but for some people it helps evidenced by PSA numbers going down. Since every cancer and person is different, it may or may not help in this regard. My current batch of oil is Ghost OG. Next will be Sour diesel-way less CBD as sometimes I sleep too much and end up groggy the next day.

Grow your own. It is as easy as growing tomatoes.

in reply to ck722

Grows like a weed! I grew 2 plants a while back and ended up with something like a pound. Way more than I needed.

For almost a year I have great success with CBD full spectrum drops for pain and sleep. 100-200mg CBD (from commercial hemp) a day spread over 3-4 doses.

Manages about 70% of MY pain and have finally been able to sleep. Told UO, MO, and primary and they say no unsafe SOC drug interaction.

I added 5mg THC lozenges made from RSO (Rick Simpson Oil), marginally helps about 20% of specific pain, head mostly, about 40mg a day. NO HIGH SIDE EFFECTS FOR ME AT THIS DOSE AT ALL.

Both I believe help ME sleep maybe due to pain relief or maybe just relaxing?

This has made a huge positive in MY QOL. Reduced Norco down to 2 a day from many.

Cost is a problem. In Calif I haven't found a way to get prescription that insurance or Medicare will pay for.

My brother often uses cbd oil. So to speak, he has a nervous job and he is always stressed. Moreover, for the last time there appear problems with sleep. To cut it short, he was always tired and irritated, also he smoked a lot. Frankly speaking, I was afraid he will fall into the depression. His colleague proposed him to use some sweet gummies with strawberry taste from baeys.com/blog , even he is on the pick of stress. It's a Vegan and GMO-free products. To tell the truth, I don't know if it helps him to work, but in any case, I observed that he became calm down and indeed he sleeps better.
