Patients with bone metastases could have periodic measures of alkaline phosphatase. Advanced prostate cancer with bone metastases could progress without significant changes in the PSA. An increase in the values of alkaline phosphatase between scans may alert to possible progression of the cancer. It could also be useful to manitor efficacy of therapies.

what is the acceptable level for alkaline phosphatase? Ive never asked our OC this, only what my husbands PSA and T are. I would like to know what it is supposed to be, my husband has 3 small bone mets.

If any one could answer this I would be very gratefull

Abnormal levels of ALP in your blood most often indicate a problem with your liver, gallbladder, or bones. However, they may also indicate malnutrition, kidney cancer tumors, intestinal issues, a pancreas problem, or a serious infection.

The normal range of ALP varies from person to person and depends on your age, blood type, gender, and whether you’re pregnant.

The normal range for serum ALP level is 20 to 140 IU/LTrusted Source, but this can vary from laboratory to laboratory.

Looks like a nice chilly winter day down there AG! I ordered a home PSA test on Amazon for $70. Haven’t used it yet. Cheers!

If you are in the U.S. & near a LabCorp office, the LEF PSA test is cheaper.

During tha annual blood test sale, it is about $23.

I think it’s only one test for each kit. I just wanted to have something on hand for those moments when I’m freaking out. I’ll probably contact lab Corp next time also after reading pjosh’s comment. Peace!

Hi alangeorge!

Oh my, I had an amazing time visiting Auckland, as a passionate coffee drinker, was in paradise. Flat whites all the way, brother, although as an US person, riding bike in Auckland did lower my life expectancy a bit.

So, my medical team from Dana-Farber has me on 3 month Lupron shots and daily Zytiga. Since I have PCa and currently responding to treatments, get visits and blood draws every 3 months. Hope you're getting 3 months surveillance, if not NZ will comply to international standard of care.

All the best,

George

DarkEnergy Hi!

I think they are doing it (complying) here. Biking in Christchurch is very different, we have hills and mountains. but the city is flat :). But the coffee is the same, as I have never had a coffee in my life this is second-hand talk and observation. I lived in The Bahamas 5yrs, Canada twice 8 and 3 yrs, USA 1 year and still never had a coffee haha (it's all to do with my childhood)!

I wanna move to a unique place in Australia, Mullumbindy :) it a place of negative ions.

Stay light, my friend.
