Seems that the day after my monthly Firmagon shot, I feel horrible, like I have the flu. Joint aches body aches . Anyone else? Is this normal? A reason to switch to Lupron 3 month shot?

Firmagon Hangover?
My husband always experiences that. The injection site doesn’t really bother him anymore but the flu-like symptoms persist and last a couple of days. It is annoying and uncomfortable but not debilitating for him. Firmagon is a superior drug in mine and my husband’s opinion and therefore worth the day or two of feeling lousy. Best of luck to you.
I'm on Lupron and that's no picnic for several days to a week after an injection. It can feel roughly like being kicked in the butt.
Yes, it's something we all have to put up with, but it's worth it .............. I've got mine tomorrow, perhaps we can all groan together.
Best reagrds, Phil
My husband suffers like that after his monthly Firmagon as well - but for the good work it is doing we feel that it is a couple of bad days that are worth putting up with !!
Best Wishes...
Thanks to all for commiserating with me! Waaaaaaaa!
Same here. I feel like a truck hit me the next day and a bit fatigued a day or so afterwards. Well worrh it though as it is keepi g my psa undetectable over 4-1/2 years now and my Dr says that it is superior to Lupron
I receive the gift of Lupron every 6 months and always get the "Lupron flu". Last month was particularly bad with excessive pain at the shot site plus 2 days of feeling lousy followed by a 3rd day sleeping from 1-4:30 in the afternoon. I did rally that evening for some Handel's Ice Cream and have lived happily ever since.
I didn't have the extreme side effects you are having with Firmagon. The sore injection site is what I remember most. My doctor said he likes to start ADT with Firmagon because it hit the cancer hard and brought the PSA down quickly. It did. After three injections, he switched me to three month Zoladex (similar to Lupron). It didn't hurt as much and it meant I only needed to go in once every three months. It has been working well for almost a year. My PSA has been slowly declining to 0.17 this month.
I get my monthly injection........ no reaction at all.......we are all different except for one thing.... "fighting fucking prostate cancer"
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
